Downpour's only good thing was Monocle Man/Aristocrat. He was going to be a boss going from a old trailer, but he was cut and then moved into a one second scene in a literally on-rails segment. He's my first thought whenever someone talks about Downpour, which is quickly followed by how much of a waste the entire game is in comparison to him and what he was.

How would you guys rank the movie/show adaptations?

Like on a scale from "bland" to "ass cancer".
The first movie is.. well it gets credit for having alot of real sets, and it gets some of the aesthetics right, and there is some genuinely shocking imagery, such as Pyramid Head grabbing loose skin on a young women's body and then just ripping her entire bodies worth of skin off in one motion.
Its a complete misnomer from SH1 though, the vaguest outline of the games plot was adapted for the movie, it spends too much time explaining past shit so they barely have any time for the MC to explore the foggy town, its a rush to the end.
also the Mom/Not Harry doesn't really DO anything but get the entire towns worth of Not-Christians killed by the "Demon", there's no hero's journey here or any sort of development, not that they had any time for any of that.
a passable horror film, a 6/10, maybe 6.5/10.

Silent HIll NOT-3, the sequel to Silent HIll, is much worse, its a weird adaptation of SH3, but also a sequel to the first movie, this doesn't jive for a dozen reasons, most of all that now there IS a Cult that just ran seperately to the "Not-Christians" from the first movie, and they want Heather for well, you know.
there are some laughably bad CGI monsters, it rushes at lightspeed through the plot of SH3, the character of Not-Harry Mason bafflingly doesn't die despite being played by the Actor famous for dying, playing a man famous for dying in a very sad scene that just doesn't occur in this game.
It ends with Not Claudia transforming into one of the worst SH affiliated monsters having a duel with Pryamid Head, who is now a savior for Heather.
1/10, its bad, bad enough they didn't make a sequel till literally this coming year, with Christophe Gans once again stepping up to the plate to purposefully adapt Silent HIll wrong.

F seems more like a Siren game than Silent Hill.
Don't you dare besmirch my glorious nipponese games like that. They were folded over a thousand times by a samurai blacksmith. SH:f probably wasn't even played by its own devs.

Honestly though, I went into SH:f expecting a siren type game, and that wasn't what I got. The siren games take their setting very seriously. The cults, histories, and characters are all way more thought out than f's. Because while in Siren the events of the game are built on top of those things, in f those things only exist when the character drama requires them to. The siren 1 devs cared so much they hand made every archive item in the game irl. They even ate the shitty Hanuda jelly Ramen. In f..... I can't imagine ebisugakakamoa or whatever even existing outside of Hinakos line of sight. In one ending the real town just gets gassed to death and the narrative instead focuses on Hinako and her not fiancee's relationship problems because who fucking cares?

The only good thing in the game was... the zelda head+hands boss they cut??

Murphy was kinda hot... but yeah, bad game that is SH in name only. It feels like the 3rd party devs gave up on even trying to make their SH games feel like SH after Homecoming, and I'm being charitable to Homecoming.

In the game itself, it was really out there in comparison to the whole Spirit Halloween feel of the game that was SH in name only. He's the whole mountain, you can even see the train tracks and other rails fused to his tentacles. He's not grabbing a car and throwing it, the whole location is fighting you. Cutting all that to make him a face... yeah. What the fuck.
Franchise-wise, he is weak. But he had a design and background that was nearly close to a feel to the few of Silent Hill's oddly living locations, he deserves to be in a better game than Downpour and get his ideas more fleshed out.

Homecoming was ass with a premise that could have been unbelievably good. A Soldier in SH? Amazing idea. But the "plot" doesn't even try to capitalize on it, and it turns out to be a lie anyway (meaning all the pregame interviews bashing SH1-3's combat were even more egregious in hindsight since Alex wasn't a soldier). The game didn't know if it wanted to be cult horror or true psycho-horror, and people forget just how disgustingly (((hollywood))) it was... It used movie pyramid head solely for the memberberries, it blatantly stole scenes directly from Hostel and Saw (popular gore flicks of the time which lacked any and all tact/taste), and injected a completely stereotypical hollyjew nigger cop into the mix just to have a stereotypical hollyjew nigger cop. Shit was such cancer I think people have forgotten just how shit it was to dull the pain of its existence.

Downpour was redundant and shared similar problems to Homecoming ala the SH2 wank and the nigger injections - but it wasn't the absolute worst possible outcome like Homecoming was. Overall, SH fans are arguably the most battered fans in gaming. SH fans have been given a steady diet of shit to eat since >>>2004<<<. Let's count the numbers here, that means for over 20 Years SH fans have been eating shit. God damn lol.

you are right on Homecoming, but I argue Downpour is an even worse game, especially since its narrative is fluid, Murphy is either guilty of a variety of things, or guilty of absolutely nothing but beating up a fat pedo and not even killing him, or actually its Cunningham and Murphy is a prison warden.

Even beyond the retardation of the choose your own fuckin backstory shit, Downpour reskins the Town of Silent Hill in such an egregious way that I'm still baffled by it, there are whole heaps of characters that serve no plot relevance and just.. exist, the Nun, the DJ, the fucking Magical NEgro Mailman, worthless all, the game is another "Silent hill 2 Town doing Therapy" attempt, but that doesn't even work or jive because its actually real for everyone, everyone sees and experinces the same shit, and see's and is around the same Enemies and Enviroments, its just now a Spooky Whacky Funhouse Town, its PAINFULLY un-scary as well, with side content being about literal Spoopy Ghosts and other "aside" gimmicks that have nothing to do with the plot.

in the end, it has nothing to say, Murphy's angst could be for any of the listed above, so the plot can't have some grand twist or big reveal or any plot at all, all it has is exposition for past events, which have zero impact, we know nothing about Murphy's kid other than he was Pedo-killed, there's zero pathos or weight to any of the characters we meet, even the Daughter Cop who is just understandably pissed because Murphy had a hand in her dad's crippling (maybe). Murphy also has nothing to him, just things he did and feels bad about.

The other half of the premise, the whole "you fucked up your demonic sacrifice, now the children you killed are coming back to drag you to hell" was also awesome and not used well at all. Could've been done like the ghost bosses of 4. Or even have the children appear as adult characters to Alex since he was supposed to be one of them, only to warp into monsters when their murderers get near. They could've done anything other than make just Silent Hill Ocarina of Time.

Speaking of, has the general public admitted they actually liked homecomings zelda combat system now that two recent games they pretend to like used it?

Is F better than 2 remake at least for not painting things yellow?
eh, F is a decentish (ish) story and a decent little setting, however, it doesn't have a proper Silent HIll Otherworld, which is a core aspect of the good series, instead it just has this seperate Dark Temple area, which, like the rest of the game, looks very well made and the colors pop and all that.. but it just doesn't scare, alot of the horror of SH1-3 (and alittle with 4) was the enviroments.. first they are wrong, but about right, then they are familiar to the first but horrific and impossible, this aspect is never present in SH F.

SH2 Remake's flaws can be.. well everyone looks a little odd (though they did in 2 as well) and I prefer the old VA work, especially Guy's, but it mostly upholds SIlent HIll 2, more or less, as it was, so I'd say Silent HIll 2 REmake edges out because its a remake of a great game, and it commits very few sins.
