Silent Hill

I think sexualizing Angela is kind of missing the point completely. She's a foil for James and his horny. The throughline of their woobie backstories is sexual frustration ruining and destroying their past relationships. At first Angela seems unhinged when she's anxious and afraid of James being another potential abuser, but as the game progresses you start to think, y'know, maybe she's right about that.
And seeing James as just an abuser is also pretty much missing the point. There's a entire optional scene in the Hotel that pretty clearly lays out that James' resentment towards his wife was much deeper than "I can't have sex." The connective tissue between each character in the game is that horrible circumstances can cause good people to do terrible things.

teenage drama crap
Well, I mean. That's Silent Hill 3. Except that game came out when being a teenager meant you were turning into an adult, with the game's themes hidden behind that rusty exterior involving a lot of the stresses that come with becoming a woman / adult and ideas of parenthood / responsibility more generally.

Today, being a teenager is just the step in life before becoming a manchild, although I can't lie and say I wouldn't be interested to see Soylent Hill: Revengeance follow the story of an absolute dipshit who took a wrong turn on his road trip to the anime convention at neverland and had to deal with monsters given the personified qualities of "having to pay rent," "having to get a job," "basic adult responsibilities," and so-on.

I'll be damned. An actual continuation of the series.

I'm sure i'll be disappointed when it turns out to be a pointless remake of the original featuring a cast of multicultural trannies.

"You didn't realise that Silent Hill could be so on fleek but, sister, you don't even know!"

I have no hope that this game will be good. I would love to be proven wrong but since Konami sucks ass, Team Silent is dead, Hideous Kojumbo is gone and the very first picture is a fat lgbtq trash person, I think it's already clear that this game is going to be absolutely fucking awful.

Hopefully this is the rumored Silent Hill 2 remake. That first line in the tweet is a variation of the first line in Mary's letter to James ("In my restless dreams, I see that town")
Silent Hill 2 doesn't need a damn remake, it's still a perfectly fine game the way it is. Hell RE4 didn't need a remake either but we're still getting one...

Book of Memories 2 would be good. That way they won't fuck up the main series if it sucks, and maybe we'll get a fun horror themed Baldur's Gate clone out of it.

True, but remember they lost the source code to the original game, hence the shitty HD port on 360/PS3 years ago.

If it is a remake, hopefully it will be a faithful 1 to 1 remake that doesn't change or add anything to the game other than a graphics rehaul.

I just want a scary game. I feel like a remake or even a new installment would move away from the fixed camera angles, low draw distances, and claustrophobic environments, because hardware a lot better… but those are what the games scary.

Music is extremely important too. In fact, none of the games would be scary without their soundtracks. You'd need people who are masterful at twisted, unnerving sound design and a composer on par with Akira Yamaoka. Most of the horror of P.T was in its sounds.

Clunky, cumbersome combat is okay too. We don't need another action game with horror elements. It's not enough to have a Silent Hill coat paint if you ignore the foundations that made it horrifying.
