Silent Hill

You either haven't ever played these games (likely) or you're intentionally being stubborn.

Come on, now: This isn't ResetEra. Like you, my awareness of Shattered Memories' development is why I consider it a weird knockoff game salvaged from a different project, rather than a remake - But no one should lose sleep over clocking it as the """""remake""""" they were expected to think it was.

Correcting people about Sirent Hirr is my job clearly. I am nitpicking and biased. According to Konami Shattered Memories is a remake, or they wanted it to be so I won't argue about it.
Anyways I've been losing sleep over the other Silent Hill games they have done 0 marketing for like Townfall and f. I hate that Townfall was teased early this year only to go nowhere. Announcing games too early is miserable for everyone involved. Though Silent Hill f is being made by Neoboards, you could hire Chris Avellone as director for the story and it would still be a mess of a game without the right talent. Honestly these games might not even come out if the revival project fails, but I won't be too upset since the series has been dead to me since the film.

Fucking hell, F is STILL in development? Thought that got taken out back and shot

Honestly at this point I hope they all do. I just want someone to continue the ideas Team Silent had, or make a new IP based around it.

SILENT HILL 3 TRIVIA
During the ending when Heather looks back after mourning her father, there was originally going to be a baby crying which grabs her attention during the development. For whatever reason this was cut likely since all aspects of babies crying got chopped in the end similar to SH4 having to cut the twin victim monster cries. Anyways, this would imply that Claudia got reincarnated similar to Cheryl after we defeat God. For whatever reason Team Silent decided to leave it out, likely because they wanted to mark it as the finale of Alessa's story in the series. But, it does make some sense to me since we see her empty robe on the floor, but this doesn't add much to SH3 since it'll never go anywhere. A hypothetical spinoff based around this where you play as a reincarnated Claudia (but never know it) would be interesting.

Same, I know people see f as being the only redeeming project from this onslaught of absolute shit that Konami's been pumping out, but I really couldn't care less about moving the setting to Japan. It seems like such a drastic departure from the series that it should just be another property. Since they are exhuming the franchise's grave and desecrating it once more, I wish they just would try to give us a new story with a new cast characters and new locales in Silent Hill and I'll pray that its not as godawful as the shit the that followed 4. Also I guess thats what Townfall is kinda supposed to be? Haven't heard anything about since the transmission.

Well Team Silent themselves were wanting to move away from the town of Silent Hill but they did this in meaningful ways that tied back to the town itself like with (Heather's Town) in SH3, and Ashfield in 4. I don't mind a SH in Japan, but it won't ever be as good as SIREN which is essentially the successor to SH1 because they are building retarded lore like "the Silent Hill phenomenon" to lazily explain why shit happens wherever they want rather than tying it to cult activity, or even exploring DREAMS which is an underrated aspect of Silent Hill westoids and nu japs never get right.

I for one would welcome a new entry by competent devs who actually played 1-4. Make a new psychic protagonist to where this time you can actually influence the way the otherworld works to an extent, make it scary and unsettling or a general disturbing and short story. Fuck with the idea TS had where they wanted to make a silent hill game with crowds of people, elaborating on looking through the window in SH4 to a normal town. I don't even care about the canon I just want a good fucking game. We haven't had any in over 20 years and SH4 is rough.

Just completed SH3 there, was pretty decent, is SH4 worth playing? I see a lot of people shitting on it.

Im gonna savestate the shit out it, use frame advance for the backtracking and 1 hit kill enemies/infinite ammo/invincibility/ from a codebreaker rom anyway lol
The first half, then turn it off when you repeat because thats the last good of the game. But honestly hacked might be good. Or watch Vinesauce Vinny's new playthrough he just completed. Or just use EASY MODE, there are no real puzzles lol its very linear.

I played it on PS2 in all its smudgy glory, the Wii controls were a turn off. I don't like walking simulators and this game suffered from that imho.

I sustain that the "re-imagining" killed any chance for a proper remake or remaster of the first one, and that's why Konami jumped to 2 instead ,on top of the popularity that entry particularly has.

Edited for clarity

It's worth playing.

It's not as great as 2 and 3, but I really like the concept of the apartment, supposed to be your safe haven, being more and more fucked up.

However the second half of the game is somewhat hurt by having to escort a character.

Edit: correction.

4 is not as great as 4?
Anyway, for the second half in 4, don't bother giving weapons to the character you're escorting, the AI gets really stupid and it's not worth losing an inventory slot for that.

4 at least has an interesting story and concept. Characters aren't as memorable but considering many are just fodder to a serial killer who is the real star of the game it's understandable.

Wasn't supposed to be a SH at first hence why it's so different, but at least doesn't turn into another "i forgot i did bad things and everything is a metaphor of my guilt" SH2 fucking thing the western studios drove into the ground.

Ironic too since it's got direct connections to SH2 and still manages to be unique.

I wouldn't mind a Shattered Memories followup using 2 as inspiration but with new characters and map entirely, maybe this time taking place in a New Jersey or a rust belt city. SM followup being a walking simulator like PT with the exploration of SM but larger scale, and with the puzzles and aesthetic of 1-3. Using the "normal town suddenly becomes the otherworld and abnormal" idea that Team Silent had. Man if the Silent Hill IP was open I'd immediately try to make a worthy game that combines aspects many enjoy while bringing new things to the mix. Though my ideal game would be less of a Horror game and more of a puzzle and exploration one.

Since we are in a Shattered Memories tangent, i believe SH4 would benefit from getting that treatment

Short game with multiple paths that lead to a different ending, Walter Sullivan remains the main focus of the story, and every choice made during the game determines what his motive is, how he went about it, who were the victims, and if there's any survivors in the end

Silent Hill 1 is better than 2, yeah I said it.
In the past I would have just disagreed with you, and while SH2 remains my favorite even in atmosphere, I have come to appreciate SH1's more brutal vibe. And Harry Mason is a great character, although SH3 is needed for his full development. Even SH4 as I have mentioned before has numerous cool and unique elements even if the game's faults outweigh its pros at the end of the day. SH4's story in particular (once you browse some extra material + watch a playthrough utilizing Eileen to read the secret shit) may be the most interesting one in the franchise. I'm not saying it's the "smartest" or most emotionally intelligent as I would put SH2 in that spot, but I would call it the most interesting SH story.

This remake isn't made for us. They want the younger audiences who can't figure out how to emulate old games and who probably wouldn't bother anyway because they think that anything made before they were born automatically sucks.
right. its for the fnaf loving gen alpha brainrot children that get scared over colorful pretty electronic furries that just so also happen to be sexually attracted too and have no concept of a horror game whatsoever other than cheap jumpscare..
