Silent Hill

lol you retards are now praising OG Silent Hill 2 because it got a remake. you do realise that "horror" game was responsible for being the progenitor for shitload of ansty "depression analogy" horror games tainting the mediasphere today. It's dogshit, and you should feel bad for falling for the group praise and worshipping a turd just because it's 22 years old and got an even worse version.

So whats with all the dejavu moments of James interacting with stuff that was in the previous games? Is this just a neat thing put for people who played the OG or implying some kind of time-loop shit theory?
It is intended as just call backs.
But the SH fandom is going to go nuts again with theory crafting and we will end up talking about James foreskin again.
I fucking hope the director of the game makes them all meltdown again, by calling all their pet fan theory's dumb and none canon.

Look up when the thread was created retard.

While we talk about the call back stuff, I'm wondering why they added all the "Strange photos", I figured they would reveal some unlockable after you beat the game or even tie into one of the extra endings they added, but it's just attached to an achievement. On a similar note the only unlockables is the stuff the filters and chainsaw you get when you first beat the game.

I don't know about the rest of you but I never got scared from playing a Doom wad. Is a horror game that only has jumpscares and loud noises any better than the antsy depression analogies?
When every problem can be solved by shooting it, any sense of dread is gone for me.
But speaking of Silend Hill and WADs, someone made a decent recreation of PT in GZDoom:

Comically unsubtle notes. Reads like weird slipknot/NIN lyrics. People on Reddit are unsurprisingly praising this. Whenever someone defends or baits remember this is the garbage they're defending. Ask yourself if anything like this would have been in 1-4, you know the answer if you've played them thoroughly. THIS is what people mean when they talk about the differences between Western Silent Hill versus Team Silent.

Modders already brought back the classic jacket although the original sports shirts are missing.1000293688.jpg

I finished the game today with the Leave ending. It was way better that I was expecting and I'm actually blown away that the studio managed to pull it off. The combat is fun and surprisingly engaging for survival horror, which is a vast improvement over the dogshit that was in the original. I ended up liking the new performances and I think it's fine they didn't try to imitate how the lines were originally delivered. It's a tough pill to swallow, but the OG performances haven't aged well and sound bad in comparison.

My biggest complaint with the game is how janky the interaction range feels. It was extremely noticeable during the last fight, James refused to pick stuff up unless he was at a very specific distance/angle.

If the remake is closer to what you want out of a modern, combat-driven horror game (as the "dogshit" comment suggests), I'm happy that it exists for you. But there's no reason for your enjoyment of a separate product to be predicated upon revisionist history concerning the original (your point reads as though the original's vocal performances weren't bad until there was a remake to compare them to). You get that the weirdness of the original performances is what people specifically found charming and memorable, right?

Similarly to everyone else, I'm continuing to find the remake better than expected, while maintaining my initial impressions of it being a mediocre attempt at turning 2 into Homecoming. To Bloober Team's credit, 4 would probably be worth playing if remade in this style.

I'm still gradually suffering through AngriestPat's playthrough:

Is there a reason why James no longer remembers the hotel during the meeting with Maria scene? Is it to suggest that James had repressed that part of his memory to hide from the truth, or is it just used as a plot device for Maria to lead him to the new grove area?

Trigger warnings cheapen horror and darker stories. Even the Mafia demake has a trigger warning despite not even expanding on themes it could have and being a lot more family friendly than the original ending. Can you imagine if Berserk had a trigger warning? We already have that shit with Parental Advisory Explicit Content and ratings. Imagine not being able to handle terrible human beings in a story, and you as a writer feel the need to put TW on it like its some wattpad bullshit.

Imagine a car company stating they want to get rid of car drivers. How can you employ disgusting monsters who want to eradicate your costumers?? Wtf is this shit? Why are these people getting hired in an industry they openly hate and work to to destroy? WTF is going on here? Is there a (communist? jewish? Illuminati? WEF? Whatever? ) conspiracy to destroy video games and the billion dollar game industry? Destroy all games to make the ex-gamers do what...?

I don't get it.
Evidently the Chinese are pushing it in a bid to bankrupt companies and make them easier to be bought.
I think on some level the power-havers know that normies don't care how foul the messaging gets in media or how antagonistic they might get toward gamers, niche nerd culture in general and white heterosexual (even gay to a degree) men.
They do however have a serious imbalance when it comes to gamers, niche nerd culture in general and white heterosexual (even gay to a degree) men becoming violent domestic extremists and actually causing the kind of trouble the power havers really need as a cassus belli to justify stomping harder on the majority of the population's necks.

They think if they can antagonise the majority enough, enough of the fringe weirdos will eventually lose their minds and do something stupid that the entire Overton Window can be shrunk around that fringe of a fringe of a fringe, and thereby justify crushing the freedoms of everyone to everyone.

The thing they want you to be more than anything is crazy and violent.

The thing that drives them fucking nuts is when you're articulate, funny, persuasive and charming and they can't silence you.
Bit of a tangent, but this reminds me of how they hyped up joker 1 as something that would light the countryside on fire and jack shit happened. Then they made a sequel to shit all over the original because it wasn't supposed to be uplifting or meaningful.

It's interesting how you can just spot soulless shit these days. Remakes are in the vogue because they are successful and don't have to worry about building something from the ground up. You don't have to innovate so much as expand and pretty up the world. Also they don't alter the plot TOO much. They remix shit, and mess with little details but ultimately they keep the major beats. They are able to keep the spark of something good no matter how much is trimmed for correctness ( unless really half assed in content like re3) that a lot of modern AAA games cant match no matter how much money is wasted.

I think a fair barometer for predicting whether one will enjoy the SH2 remake or not is how they feel about the below Star Wars scene (unfortunately, the uploader has disallowed embedding):

I remember watching that and enjoying it, but I completely understand why other people don't. While it lines up more with how Vader is portrayed in the expanded media and games it lacks the honest spark and atmosphere of the original. I'm more tolerant because I view it as a sort of "what if "or interesting experiment rather then a true supplement to the original.
