Silent Hill

Also extends to METAL GEAR SOLID 1-3. I'm aware MGS is a larger series and the resell value is lower because of how accessible they are but there's no reason "fans" and retro faggots push these games to $300+.
I knew the SH games had to be scalped or inflated the second I looked up MGS2

WOW! One of the biggest PS2 titles and it ISN'T 300 dollars! Almost like someone's artificially inflating the prices of other games!

Side note: this didn't pop into my head until today. So while I would like to play SH via the original discs, theoretically, is there a way you could say burn the games onto a disc and plop it into a PS1/2? I know nothing about these consoles so sorry if maybe the answer is obvious.

I understand I did the whole thing about "its a real way to play!" but I think to me put a copy of the game onto a disc and printing out the cover to put on a empty DVD case would work fine enough.

To go into more depth I'm talking mostly about video games, I was playing GZDoom like 2 years ago and I just couldn't get this voice out of the back of my head that I wasn't really playing Doom since it was via a source port and not a true vanilla-esque port like Chocolate Doom, obviously you might say "well just play that then" and I did! I then promptly got the same feeling as before because it wasn't an official means of play (think like playing the game via the old DOSbox official Doom 1&2 steam pages before they got delisted)
If you must use original hardware get a mod to play back ups on them. Every system has them and they're cheaper than buying these games new. You could just get over being stupid like this though. The real experience is often worse than the emulated one.

Metal gear was one of the most popular games on the system. Silent Hill were cult games that grew popular after the system died.

Only PS2s that have modchips installed can read burned discs and in my experience that's not a reliable way to play--every time I tried I kept getting issues.

I've heard of a thing you can do with fat PS2s where you can actually install a hard drive in them and load games from that, though for your purposes that's only a step removed from emulation.

Once they dropped Substance and Subsistence, there was absolutely no reason to go back to the original MGS2 or MGS3 discs. :stress:

Yes you just need to remove the copyright protection chip. I'm sure there's guides online now but back in the day you just had to know someone.

Cybil boss theme without merry-go-round portions.

If you thought the SH2R OST was a downgrade you're in for a real surprise with SH1 remake if they don't reuse the original score.

Think I'm finally gonna play the remake today/tonight. I've done a pretty good job of avoiding spoilers for the remake (not story-wise, of course), with the exception of knowing I'll probably see you all after way longer than it would take to beat the original.

It's nothing special or mindblowing and loses a lot of gameplay but it's just mediocre enough to power through maybe.
Probably the best and most succinct review of the remake there is, the only thing I would add is that it has 0 replay value, just the thought of going through the expanded prison again it's enough to kill any will for a second run.

That’s the thing that pisses me off about remakes. Those old survival horror games had a perfect jank-to-fear ratio. I hated Brookhaven Hospital, not because it was long or difficult, but because every hallway felt like God was punishing me.

The feeling of stepping into a long dark hallway or cramped room and hearing the nurses stepping around still gives me anxiety. And then in 3 when they do the 3 thing of making everything a cacophony by adding that terrifyingly anxiety inducing breathing sound to them too, as well as a few guns in the mix because why not.

Sorry for lateposting, but this incorrect. PS2 piracy has been an understood science for years now. You can run any pirated game you want, or load them via a hard disk, or ethernet cable by using a memory card with an exploit installed on it. It doesn't require modifying the console in any way and leaves no lasting changes.

You can probably hunt down a copy of it online for a few bucks if you don't have a memory card of your own to use.

There's also other solutions you can use that slot into the expansion port of the PS2.

You guys don't just splash the garbage can?
I prefer not to do speedrunner tricks when I'm trying to seriously enjoy a story.

The guy I was responding to was specifically asking about burned discs.
