Maria isn't really malicious about it

This is a fine example of what makes these games difficult to discuss: Though others can and will make a broad point many will agree with, the cases made for their assertions are liable to conflate villainous intent with characters incidentally serving as antagonists within particular story beats. People also give themselves room to attribute varying degrees of agency to certain secondary characters without first establishing whether they believe them to even exist as more than figments of the protagonist.

Maria might be the best example of how (deliberately) muddled the waters are: For many SH fans, their canon interpretation of Maria's motives, actions, and overarching role in James' story comes down entirely to whether they enjoy Born From a Wish or consider it non-canon filler (which Konami currently seems to; being as it remains excluded within the remake). Much of the discussion I've seen to do with interpreting how Maria behaves in the remake over the past year has been dictated by headcanon informed by BFAW, and how the person has chosen to interpret the visual easter eggs sprinkled throughout the remake. I'm still uncertain as to what the Baldwin mansion being acknowledged in the remake implies or signifies.

Guys, did you know the Mario franchise is feminist? Peach is always being kidnapped, after all.
Mario is actually communist propaganda:

On a serious note. Silent Hill is a series named after a town that is in the US, where very specific things happened to make it the way it is. None of it has anything to do with 60s Japan. f is a Silent Hill in name only and I couldn't care less about it.

Better than nothing, sure. But as I understand the lore, Silent Hill area was already special even before Alyssa manifested her nightmares into reality, the cult just weakened the veil that was already thin there.
They could just say it was because Silent Hill and the other torn are a location of leylines intersections which is classic explanation in Japanese media.

I repeat: The official explanation used by Konami in Ascension and The Short Message is Fart Gas. Silent Hill is migrating clouds of fart gas. What more do you ingrates require? Just buy, glaze on Reddit (LORE!!!), and await the next announced product.

OMG: What if Silent Hill Feminism is a prequel to SH2: Remake; and the little gook girl you play as is ayckhully Pyramid Head????

That's retarded, but on par for modern konami. I still wonder how the F integrate itself with the rest of the silent hill canon, if at all. Nothing about the game really looks silent hill except that I think there is some fog in the trailer.

I don't know how much of this it talked about, but I really hate the combat that's been shown so far. It can't decide if it wants to be more stiff like classical survival horror, or faster-paced like a souls games. The gameplay trailer has this weird bastard mix where the combat has dodge rolls and eneimes have overly choreographed multi-hit combos, yet everytime you land a hit the game freezes for a bit as in not the animation, but the actual game just pauses for some reason. It looks unnatural and combined with the over the top effects in boss introductions and the intrusive UI with markers telling you what to do. I can't tell if this game is even trying to be a horror, or if it's just a action game with a spooky aesthetic.

It looks like a bastardized version of the melee combat found in TLoU and Hellblade, where your attacks generate a magnetic field that makes the character skip an animation frame or two in order to close the distance to the enemy and engages a very strong lock-on once your first attack connects. I think it works fine in TLoU as the game is primarily focused on shooting and stealth, but it's going to feel like shit here because you'll probably spend 80% of the time engaging in melee combat. Those god awful freeze-frame animations after you land a hit also make the game look amateurish, I'd expect something like that in an action game, not Silent Hill.

The worst part however, I think is the fact that the encounters shown in the teaser look mandatory. Confined spaces, zoomed in camera, with no other option but to fight.

Again; I’m looking forward to watching some Redditbrained cows stream their full, sponsored playthough of a game that both looks like shit and looks like it feels like shit to play, then try to spin it as another worthy entry in the Silent Hill franchise. “YOU JUST KEEP HITTIN’ THE FUCKIN HOME RUNS, KONAMI.”

Maybe it will land like the SH2 remake; where it’s a solid. 6/10 “I don’t know why this needs to exist, but OK” serving of slop that isn’t nearly as bad as it was made to seem - But being horrible is about the most entertainment I have reason to expect from forte, based on the previews and fake hype from the usual suspects.

SILENT HILL is inherently Maine, and in sequels some New England and South California where devs scouted.

Team Silent may have moved to other states in future titles but they always had a link to the town in Maine. It will always be better off a series in American towns. Even PT devs understood that.

New f trailer
The more they show the worse it looks. The dub is awful and the dialogue sounds really stupid. I didn't have high hopes or anything but I was curious about it, though now I'm probably just going to watch a playthrough instead of getting it.
I pirate every game so I don't need to waste money like a worshipper of a company

A horror game about feminism that doesn't even take place on the same continent as Silent Hill...if I was more of a conspiracy theorist I'd say this game initially had nothing to do with Silent Hill at all, but they knew it wouldn't sell so they tweaked some things and slapped the title on it.

Most likely outcome I think. this'll be the Quake 2 of Silent Hill, except Quake 2 was a good game.
