None of them are masterpieces, "Nowhere” is just hospital + school. SH3 drags you to the church, the least fun level.

2’s finale is probably the best of the bunch, but even then it’s you unloading a full armory into Pyramid Head before the game finally goes “alright, you win.”
 
I watched someone playing the first few sections of f. It's a generic third person horror game inspired by Japanese folklore, devoid of almost everything that makes Silent Hill game a Silent Hill game.
 
Someone brought up the videotape from SH2 and SH2R and it reminded me that when I was playing, a friend pointed out that in the OG, James kisses Mary before suffocating her, but he doesn't in the remake.

Is this a subtle narrative choice that shows that SH2R was made without love and without love the truth cannot be seen?

Only great end payoff to the game is the bad ending, I feel like if I got the engine tools I could make a way better 2nd half with the help of other farmers. Restoring the UFO ending would be a big one to incentivize NG+ runs, since in 4 its basically worthless due to the lack of the usual joke endings and such.

Feel like making an EmpLemon style glorified sperg infodump and rant session called "There will NEVER EVER be another survival horror game like the ones in the 90s-2000s" going into how there will never be another unique and amazing successor to Silent Hill 1 (the series itself rlly) like SIREN, the stopping point being around Haunting Ground for the ps2 since it was originally Re4, the contrast between RE and modern RE and the absurd misdirection capcom took after VII, and all that fun or unfun jazz.

I feel insane seeing how endless drivel gets shat out of indie or AA/AAA studios and praised for literally only its release week at most then forgotten about unlike our classics. Then people defend remakes as a concept but refuse to play the original games because they don't see the point after experiencing the demake. It's insane and I think no one has really talked about it or magnified the DEATH of Survival Horror without sounding like a faggot. Just because we get one decent survival horror game on a red moon and leap year doesn't mean that our genre hasn't been absolutely enshittified; we are often bereft of good options because I think most people/developers don't even fucking understand what survival horror entails beyond me or most of us here who've actually played the games.


Horror overall has been murdered and neutered imo. Everything looks too sanitized and clean these days (look at the sh2 remake monsters vs the ones straight out of Francis Bacon's paintings in the original).

Indie studios seem to be the only ones putting out anything half-decent horror-wise. Bloober just shat out that cronos game that was bland beyond description and forgotten within a week. I need to get through my backlog of indie horror titles as I'm a bit behind. Hoping Routine will at least be decent if it comes out this year.

My bet it was going to be another game but got the SH name to make more sales. I already think a few other games already did this.

I can understand censorship like this in a kids games, with a cartoony art-style, but in a hyper-realistic adult bloody horror game It looks a bit daft. If the devs weren't allowed for show panties why give the character a skirt?

It's another red-flag on a already burning pile. Dumb minor things like this show how far art has degraded as a movement of expression into mindless products designed to satiate tyrants.

The S I L E N T H I L L lore surrounding the main character's shadow diaper is a matter of public concern. Youtubers will be lining up to unlock the free-moving camera for the sake of making videos getting to the bottom of this OUT OF BOUNDS UNDERWEAR.

It's hilarious how overt that is. Why even have a free camera if you're so concerned about showing some underwear? I remember in Let it Die you could see through the elevator girl's clothing to reveal her braless tits. I guess they panicked later and made it so the character simply disappeared whenever you tried that after a patch. They could have just done that here.

You know how many untextured/unmodeled upskirts there has been in gaming for the past 15 years? Know how many blatant solid textures beneath skirts there are (GTA IV and V)? Believe me when I say a fuckton, I was a teenager once. It's no different here. Sometimes this site feels like Reddit with how easily threads can be derailed into utter nonsense.


It's a boring chink studio with no experience who did Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and RE:Verse who boast more about their environment work on SHf than the character models. Unlike DRDR I don't think this was an instance of censorship, it was lazy chink modeling. You can EVEN SEE where the legs are just fucking floating in the screencap, indicating the devs just let her model be a void like in other games when dealing with skirt modeling to save resources. So don't give me this dogshit twitter bait in my goddamn Silent Hill thread where we sperg about better shit.
