No, I think Homestuck was roughly the Patient Zero of this garbage fire style, but Steven Universe only made it worse.

The sad thing is that Rebecca Sugar's art style in of itself is actually quite unique, if vaguely Egon Schiele-esque at times in her pre-SU years. The only major difference is that she actually took legitimate art classes at an art college, which is something I reckon a good 3/4ths of these bozos probably haven't done and won't do because of their paper-thin egos, because they'll cry "misogyny/transphobe/homophobe/etc" the moment they get a good, honest concrit in art class.

It's not the worst style wise but I think it still counts as bad art if the only way you can tell which character is which by their hairstyle/hair color. And even then I can't tell who some people are.

I found it on fanpage about art tutorials on vk.com.
And I thought this was really clever and different idea on simplistic limbs that popular "noodle limbs". You can dislike the style, but those animators know what they do, unlike many people trying to copy that style.

Yeah in that one case I'm not really sure how much SU could be blamed. For a start they never use the "droopy reptile eyes", forego the noodle limbs, and most of the strictly inhuman anatomy is used on characters that aren't actually human. Though the definition-less hands save for the fingers is down to them.

Looking at some stuff on homestuck doesn't even come that close. I'm just pretty sure that this was something tumblr came up with on its own... like half the batshit conspiracy theories out there. Someone high on the pecking order probably did it and then all their little followers blindly followed suit...

This is a very good example of being able to simplify the rules of anatomy... by knowing the fundamentals of anatomy, first.

Trying to copy these kinds of nu!CalArts/SU/noodle limb styles without knowing the basics of how humans move, bend, etc. is only going to severely stunt artistic growth in the long run. Hell, I've heard of ex-weeaboo artists who've admitted that it's really difficult to shift their modes of thinking/understanding art, anatomy, etc. and unlearning the junk stuff, after being self-taught via copying manga artists (especially the series with whacked out proportions) for the better part of a decade.
