Because drawing them different (and often ugly) shows how "progressive" they are. Plus sometimes I swear these guys avoid canon like it was a plague rat, so we get fat Ichimatsu and female/transgender Todomatsu.

As far as this thread goes, this isn't the worst and is, for the most part, pretty decent.

But I second that they completely missed an opportunity to have Tumblr nose on Popplio, and have legitimate reason to use it. You had one job, artist! One job!

I'm fine with the Pinkie Pie one since the artist captured her design and personality well (minus the shirt). I'm guessing Twilight Sparkle is supposed to be a transperson. At least with the Bronies pony-fying everything, they usually respected the original look and personality and didn't shove their politics into it.

Asking a dumb question but- do people in real life truly go out with those "FEMINIST AS FUCK" "ANGRY AND QUEER" t-shirts? I've never seen one in real life yet they seem quite popular to showcase online in fanart and in places like Ebay or whatever.
