I don't know what things are like now because I no longer have an interest in the series, but when V3 first came out in Japanese I remember the fan opinion from the few English speaking fans of it at the time was pretty negative. You both might be onto something here because these "critical" types just like things on a surface level, or otherwise warp the things they like to fit their weird standards.

I think there are things to "like" about Korekiyo, in the sense that he is definitely not a good person but he is interesting. Unfortunately, if you had no interest in him before the trial where he is the culprit, you would miss the details or hints of why he is the way he is, as they are relegated to his Free Time Events. But these types are black and white, so they'll either completely condemn him and anyone who likes him, or they completely remove his flaws so they can treat him as a paper doll. Either way there's no thoughtful examination of or interaction with the character.

This made me think about a possible conspiracy theory that this all started because a 4chan spy decided to worm their way into the minds of Twitter users by making them think that by drawing conventionally attractive Japanese characters as fat black trannies, they're making a difference... but what do I know? I always assumed that they usually came out looking ugly because many of this "brownwashing" and "blackwashing" fanart were the self-inserts of these "artists".

Like in the controversial, recently released comic book "I Am Not Starfire", you can tell that the protagonist (Starfire's daughter) is a self-insert by the author. She (the author) looks about as "beautiful" as you'd expect. IIRC, her cousin is the artist for the book.

And I am finally back from the dead! Been absent for a while due to personal life reasons that I won't be getting into. One correction, as of now, there are no trans characters in TWF, though Susan is voiced by a tranny. Sadie may also be a troon, but I think she could also be one of those non-binary loons, can't say for sure. On the other hand, it's full of lesbians, aka Jenny, Sophie, Susan and Banny. Tammy and Jessie (that poodle gal dressed like jester) are also suspected to be ones, but Martin never confirmed that, although the lunatics from TWF crew and fanbase want them to be lesbians or even non-binary lesbians, like that stupid broad that voiced Tammy.

edit: Golly, Tammy really is a lesbo. That clown from Boozoo's Ghosts and red fox kid from The Mysterious House are also confirmed to be gay. Sadie does consider herself a troon, so my previous posts were right.

(kinda off-topic) You know, I actually always found it weird and suspicious that Martin surrounds himself with underage degenerates who jump into that alphabet soup someone barfed a rainbow into.

I'm assuming it's purely for cosmetics/aesthetic of supposedly having a sketch down because they only know "it's what every artist does lol" and not anything about why it's done. Or maybe it's part of pretending they're being productive in their art when it's essentially just stray marks due to how they don't actually use it.
