Wow I never knew that Sollux was a lesbian--
Wait that's sollux?-

They probably think they’re being clever.

Winnie is a horse villager- not really a cow but it’s a pretty forgivable mistake since she’s wearing a black and white patterned shirt like a cow.

You know (if I remember reading this correctly) didn’t one of the famous models say that among all the mean nicknames kids gave them in grade school,“cow” was one of them?

Personified cow art is pretty hard to find but I’ve never seen anyone point out how insensitive drawing a cow as a person with vitiligo is compared to the shit fit that’s thrown when someone draws a primate as a black person.

Yeah, you can tell by the vision twofold and double horns. But why does he have ears larger than life and a lesbian haircut? I do not know.

Alot of people headcanon trolls to have huge rounder ears like that even tho Mallek confirmed short pointy ears to be canon. I usually just draw elf ears because I find the rodent ones to look really weird

Aren't trolls basically bugs? Why do people draw them like rodents or some shit? Anyway, back onto the road. One thing that really butters my eggroll is how people would "fix" professional artists' art by making light-skinned characters darker (vitiligo or nah)

It's hilarious because a lot of the time, if they're not whitewashing an asian character, they're completely throwing off the balance of a character design because the colors of their outfit, etc. are specifically chosen to complement lighter skin. It would take a lot of paint bucketing to change a character's skin tone to "fix" any design to be any skin color, but yanno, as is the theme, they're way too lazy for it.

This might be a little abstract because I'm an art sperg so apologies in advance.
Another thing that gets me is how tumblr/sjw on twitter artists, is if they're not drawing horrible porn, their Donut Steels, or fanart, try to branch out into actual art... without having any artistic voice. The prevalent style seems to be little vignettes, like Ukiyo-e woodblock prints: basically, paintings or drawings of people going about their lives normally, occasionally with some fantasy elements. I'll find pictures and post them later if I remember to.

The problem is, past any elements of visual style (which are almost always flat, boring, stiff, not dynamic, and cutesy, per the usual), there's literally nothing to it. There's no mood, no message, no motif, nothing. Sometimes there's no use of color, even. It's like if you went out and snapped a picture of a random guy walking down the street on your iPhone and called yourself a professional photographer. It's like a shitty slice-of-life TV show distilled down to all its worst elements because its creators were too lazy to find out what makes this stuff work, and you know it's because these artists have a painfully small visual library and/or lacking life experience because they're shut in NEETs

And then they go out and try to get jobs as illustrators. I'm betting every penny I'll ever earn that they'll become grumpy "I followed my dreams and it didn't work, this couldn't possibly be my fault" old people in a handful of years.

It's funnier if they then blame the industry for not making them a famous artist uwu because it's "male dominated". Yeah, the 98% female art world is just so taken over by men.. maybe you just suck lmao

i think it's fine to put fanart in portfolios, if it's well done and has a good composition. these obviously have none of that.
A lot of illustrators nowadays I see do that. Like, yeah, make sure it’s not absolute trash. But it shows the ability to draw other things and put effort into properties that aren’t your own. Since a lot of illustrators end up working for cartoons/comics/publishing or directing of some sort - pop culture material is actually fine.

Edit: read literally a few posts down and others went into better detail already saying what I tried to. :disagree:

This bothers me too! Half the time for a redesign they never adjust the color balance for the drawing so it looks off. So when they make characters like Deku black it looks off because the character was clearly intended to be Japanese. It's like making a black character like Canary (hxh) white and then not changing it when the artist clearly intended that.

It just bothers me because of the double standard behind it. Changing a black character to white is obviously bad, but creators can just insert _x race here_ and people will eat it up regardless of quality. That's just upsetting and only teaches creators they can appeal to the lowest common denominator and it'll work.

The fuck is the flag on the right, asexual piss fetishist pride?

I have no idea. There are so many sub-flags on Tumblr I can't keep up anymore.

yeah i should have worded myself better. what everyone else said was pretty much my thoughts on the matter and i agree with all of them.

So what is your least favorite SJW art cliche? Mine is blackwashing characters that are Asian because they're not "POC enough"

:late:, but mine definitely has to be redesigning female superhero outfits to be more "practical" while intentionally uglifying them and lopping off their breasts (*cough*BABD*cough*). It's ironic when they do it in the name of feminism, yet ignore/bash any women who appreciate those costumes and want to lose weight to look like them.

Practicality falls apart whenever you start talking about any work where super-people exist. Why do the heroes use melee weapons instead of guns in this? They're faster than bullets and a sword strike at mach 10 will fuck things up. Why does [female character] wear a skimpy outfit? If they can walk on the sun just fine then clothing stops being about warmth/protection and is entirely for comfort and cosmetic.

Practicality here isn't necessarily practicality there. Not that 4 layers of clothes with Halloween costume "muscle" padding is practical here either.
