I don't have a problem with really dark characters, but I genuinely can't see the linework or any of the details. When I color something flat black I'll usually add highlights or at least color the lineart a lighter color so you can, y'know, see it?

I genuinely like this art and I can tell this person is talented but I can't fucking see the characters.

I'm tired of artists projecting onto male characters, it's like they can't handle drawing them otherwise. I feel bad for them if they need to do it to control their envy, lol. But I really can't if they're minoritizing cis male characters, including actors' representations of characters like Tom Hardy's Eddie, just to find them more appealing or worthy of their attention. That feels fucked to me but I can't explain why.
