The thing is you can make ugly characters appealing to look at. Even incredibly ugly ones.

Ugliest motherfucker probably in Disney history, yet he's pleasant to look at. He has kind eyes and his design flows very well. In fact 99% of background and secondary Disney characters are what you would consider just average to below average looking people, however no one complains about their designs. It's because they are fundamentally pleasant to look at through exaggeration of shape and form, being dynamic and colorful, etc. They are all incredibly diverse as well in body types.
SJWs just tack on pimples, hair, and stretch marks everywhere and call it a day. Bonus points if you can make the character as lumpy as possible. It also isnt very diverse and interesting to look at, since they tend to use very neutral and similar color palettes for each of their characters, with typically almost the exact same shapes for the body. Their idea of diversity is "telling" instead of showing, such as with pride stickers and buttons on everything, and some vague shades of brown.
