Deryn Sharp is a canonical cross dresser, not a pooner. The only reason that she dresses as a man is because it’s the only way for her to follow her true passion of flying on an airship. This story is set in an alternate universe WWI, back when women were considered inferior in most respects to men. At the end of the series, once she proved herself equal to any boy her age, she lives openly as a girl who is passionate about flying. This kind of shit makes me mad.

This happens with every single character who cross dresses to slip around societal standards that put them down (Chihiro and Naoto immediately come to mind since they’re the most popular targets of this). Honestly appreciate seeing your transparency. It's a relatable feeling. Just remember that said mental illness is exactly why we shouldn't be letting these people access hormones and surgeries that destroy their bodies. Same way you can look at someone with BIID, and go, that really sucks, and still agree we shouldn't remove a healthy limb from them, we should be giving them therapy and treatment to get to the root of the problem. And why I extend a level of respect to the "normal" trannies, who are older and just want to live life as stealthily as they can. Sure, it's still agreeing with a delusion then, but it's of my own volition there.

I found her talking about being asked "Why cant you just be a masculine girl?" interesting. Transitioning is treated as both something you rush into and do not question at all. I shared a tumblr post I saw the other day on the Trannies L thread that was basically saying, young MTFs, do not wait to do DIY HRT. You're not allowed to question it at all, because simple questioning breaks the hugbox. The question isn't just a question, it's a statement to them of "you can't be trans", they read it as hostile and don't actually answer the question. Even with their own logic, they could easily answer it: having genital dysphoria, discomfort with legal title, idk. But they're coded to not even think about the question, any question to their transition is read as bigotry.
