Every time I see Dave Strider with some dumb tumblr haircut I get a just little bit closer to spiraling into insanity. He has two fucking canon physical attributes. You could make him look almost any way you want except the hair. Why. Why? Their fantasies can't ever be quenched.

It's definitely not an undercut and yet I'd say about 1/20 "Daves" have one. It's an epidemic.

To be fair, I'd consider non-Hussie art to be in a gray area canonically speaking.

I've seen people accuse Homestuck of creating this whole "tumblr art" trend to begin with. The kids appearances are sort of vague and they're supposedly aracial (although there's plenty of actual text regarding that we're all supposed to ignore). There's a lot of room for your own interpretation and Hussie basically encouraged it (all ships are canon etc). The Trickster caucasian/peachy fiasco and Hussie's reaction basically taught them that if there was a enough drama surrounding a topic, then the creator would back off and stop trying to enforce any sort of ideas about their own work.

Aside from being crazy popular, Homestuck was a lot of kid's first fandom. They don't realize that most pieces of media aren't like that and they feel entitled to people accepting their nonsense"headcanons" the creatives behind whoever the actual canon included.

Also why do they insist on adding yellow to lapis lazuli? Aren't the yellow spots on the gem from an other material or something?

:late: because I don't check this thread too often due to the sensory overload from hideous palette abuse, but real lapis has actual gold flecks in it. It could be done well as sparkly freckles or tiny flecks (like it in appears in the rocks), but some of them just use it as a vitiligo/scars opportunity.

I would like this picture if it were OCs because the style is interesting. But, I now feel validated in my assumptions that people are doing this to meet some weird halfway point of getting views but having an outlet for an OC idea.

Ok I've got these... things that have been bugging me FOREVER.

This artist did a set of "Pride Dinosaurs" which isn't a bad concept within itself but... I'll just go ahead and show you a couple shining gems. If you wanna check the blog out with every drawing is a wonderful accompanying description.

The art itself really isn't bad. Like, I really enjoy their coloring and shading style. Anatomy I can forgive, but full vaned feather spreads are put on dinosaurs that would have had filamentous feathers or quills instead are annoying and theres a lot of weird facial shrinkwrapping but whatever.

Enjoy your skoliosexual Stygimoloch. Also.. Dracorex might not have even existed and is just a juvenile Stygimoloch or Pachycephalosaurus. A falsified dinosaur for a falsified gender, lol.
