Look-alike characters have existed in animation for a long-ass time. Chip and Dale, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Heckle and Jeckle...

Are these people not aware of other cartoons existing?

Seeing this art compared to the new one is just...I don't even know what to say. She was so on track with her old artwork. Yeah, it's a bit weird, but it has potential and it looks appealing. I could see this being some cute cartoon style. Her colors are neat, the linework is solid and it looks pretty decent. Comparing this to the teen titans work just makes it even worse. I think this really proves that any developing artist should stay off tumblr unless they follow some really popular decent drawing blog. It's for their own good at this point. The more you stay on the site, the more the awful drawing habits seem to follow. Almost every other artist who is good at drawing (as we've seen on this thread) has became worse coming to Tumblr. Why?

Sure, on sites like D.A. you have plenty of crappy artwork, but even then, I never saw horrible drawing habits becoming so current. You have your crappy OC or fetish art or two, but for the most part, people I check up on sites like that usually get better. What's up with that?

I think a lot of it is a combination of being able to tailor your feed into an echo chamber like @Avocado Toast mentioned, and the nature of the Tumblr/Twitter/Instagram-style social media interface becoming more prevalent changing the nature of how artists view their own work in relation to fans.

While DA had its fair share of Tom Prestons and fetish art on display on the front page, pandering wasn't the only way to get noticed. DA's group feature allowed for tons of artists to gain notoriety in their respective niches as well as give a more cohesive community to exchange feedback through, comments on individual pieces were more front and center, and the search feature was laid out in a more straightforward manner that there was less of a chance of your artwork getting buried and allowed artwork to be easier to find via reverse image search.

Comparatively, sites like Tumblr have some of the most anti-social social media interfaces to date, which makes them terrible for art. You're limited to the first five tags to be included in the search engine, which ends up being moot because Tumblr loses track of most posts after a certain period of time anyways, the search feature itself is tucked away so it's hard to find anything, reblogging art posts with commentary is frowned upon so any feedback is hidden away either in tags or "replies" that no one will see unless you open the pop up, and there's no real incentive for other users to reblog your work since at best they don't gain any traction for their trouble and at worst they're doing so at the expense of their own art.

The end result means that in order to gain any sort of following, artists tend to need to make a lot of artwork in a short period of time to flood tags with, and pander even harder to fandoms or other trends than they would have needed to on other sites. And it just so happens that the shitty SJW style is insanely easy to replicate and master (though usually at the expense of your artistic ability) with the added bonus that included "diverse" check boxes will potentially get more attention from either "woke" idiots looking to ease their white guilt, or the handful of anti-sjws who reblog such art to talk about how terrible it is.

It's also most likely why these same Tumblrina's post a million and one "REEEEBLOG MY SHIT YOU FUCKING INGRATES" rants or get super paranoid about the concept of reposting.

im not gonna lie, these are actually p great
every character is distinctive and def looks like something a kid would find fun, but an adult would find unsettling like a bunch of demented people that you'd wanna stay away from
only one i think looks... odd... is mangle, doesnt the thing have a pirate aesthetic? kinda weird that they gave it some kinda dolly lolita look
im also glad they made freddy an old looking fat dude and not a soft kawaii desu anime boyo
and am i the only one not seeing where they made a character trans? no visible binders, tacky pride flags or surgery scars in sight, and honestly at that point i wouldnt even care if they hc any of em as trans... they did good

The only thing I'm wondering about is the literal gray skin on Bonnie. It can't be a stylistic choice--Freddy also has a darker skintone but still manages to look like...not like a corpse towed out of the river. Odd.
Other than that, nothing looks out of place to me, either. Maybe the trans thing was something stated in the caption of the post itself? If anyone's got that, it might be something worth posting for context.
