someone should make fanart of this design but add in lucoa's original proportions and @ the artist
i actually don't mind the clothes, besides, lucoa already isn't really inconspicuous either. she gets kicked out of places because of her boobs

Honestly, the problem isn't that you can't make a redesign of this character. I actually appreciate artists who want to make a character more unique due to their ethnicity or sexuality. I don't find that concept inherently wrong. Especially if it's because you are that ethnicity and you want to try it out. There are stories to be told about these characters and where they come from.

The problem is that these people are limited by their own world view ironically. You'd think the most "open and accepting" group would be willing to expand their interests and such. But that isn't the case here. That above design isn't the worst we've seen, but it doesn't come from a place of honesty.

It's obvious that they removed all the key traits of the character because they didn't feel comfortable looking at them. That's it. The poncho, the darker skin, the breast reduction...you see it all the time in the Bikini Battle Armor Thread. These people have an aversion to those who aren't like them.

Think about it this way. If you really cared about the character design and such and the person who made it, why are you calling the design a mistake? Why is your design inherently better than someone who put their time and effort into something they love?
