I feel that Tumblr people made a fetish out of race but not for the obvious (sexual) reason but rather for social status. They live in a world where victimhood is a currency and personal traits are merit badges. Imagine two kids in a sandlot, trying to out each other by saying ludicrous shit like "My dad can lift a car!" "Oh yeah? Mine can lift a truck!". This is the same MO but more like "Oh yeah? Well, I'm a black, crippled, multi, non-binary, queer trans woman, I know these struggles!" and by doing so, they think they shut eachother's up because of course, how can you argue with someone with such troubles?. No one ever stops and see the situation from a distance because the wagon is already going and on fire. If you ever try to stop it or put out the fire, you'll get ran over and/or burned to a crisp.

And, of course, this is the Internet so there's no limit on how far things can or should go. They'll just keep it going and even bring it out into real life because they end up believing their own lies for convenience. "This is my identity and you must respect it.
