You know, afer Avatar was put on Netfux I expected significantly more woke art, but I swear, half of it is just Zuko/Sokka (and a whole bunch of spicy hot takes). It's like the whole Zutara fenomenon was completely flipped on its head and now there is barely any Zutara art, only yaoi. I just don't get it.

Supposedly they’re for the blind or anyone who uses a screen reader for whatever reason. In my experience they’re usually incredibly unhelpful because they either don’t cover the important aspects, are otherwise confusing/poorly worded, are being used as a means of further virtue signaling first and foremost, or all the above. That and they often defeat the purpose of even posting an image or are completely unworkable with stuff like comics because you’ll look at the image and then have to scroll through an endless stream of WORDS WORDS WORDS.

The funniest part is that the original image description/vision impaired advocates on Tumblr all stopped doing them after like two months because they found it time consuming to type up thorough but brief descriptions for ever single image, and ultimately have little reward in the long run.

Even the blind don’t care about "seeing" this shit.

I really think she is just coping the fact that people didn't right away praise her art just because she most brave and stunning thing of making official characters black. If its just for fun then why did you made an entire essay out of this and not just move on same goes for any other artist who pulls the "I totally not mad shit".

While we're still at representation in media: just because the character is white I won't relate to it and growing up I have never really related to any cartoon characters (granted I didn't really watch that many cartoons as a child) and I still haven't found any cartoon characters to relate to, only ones that I enjoy. So far I have found two characters that are relatable to me and they are both Japanese, male anime/manga characters.

Also I can imagine many Russian or German can't relate to the "representation" they get from U.S media either (even though they're majority white countries) since they mostly get represented as evil/antagonistic people with weird accents and cultures. Same with my country but we don't get as much representation as Russia or Germany, we just get a language "name drop" because it's hard, I guess (not that I want to be represented, just thought I'd mention it).
