"Err to the side of reality". I honestly wonder why would a fictional character has to adhere to real life rules while a Ren Faire LARPer doesn't. Honestly, Both go into the realm of fiction unless both were really striving to be as realistic as possible. I know a fictional character has actions that is determined by the writer which could tie into things like marketing but then again, if one looks at it from how the character is, a character like Quiet could get a pass if simply because it could tie in with her skin literally being like stealth camo. Even then, I heard she gets alternate outfits so maybe the one we see is not just a default outfit but probably one she wears when we first meet since she could be a POW for all we know. The only thing anyone knows of Quiet based on information is that she isn't a normal human being, considering how she moves to one location along with said stealth camo skin.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this already but a weird trend with art on tumblr is where artists like to draw characters established as caucasian with some darker skin tone to make them part of a minority group for no reason at all. It really bothers me, its off model and they're just having minorities just for the sake of having minorities.

It's called racebending and I, Blac-WOC find it lazy sometimes. But the funny ones are Japanese characters racebent as Black to "show those white mayo crackers".

If someone brought up One Punch Man is a comedy, would the comments say it ain't some excuse for what appears to be a mosquito mutant woman to be dressed like that or having poses like that, or having her breast shaped like that? Even if there was more ridiculous looking things within the manga? Also gotta like how the quoted Tumblr considered to stop reading it just because of this scene. There are better reasons to stop reading some stories than a bug woman losing her legs.

I don't mind racebending if the redesign is actually good. Most of the time tumblerina power fantasy or just plain bad art. The Kill la Kill picture a 20+ pages ago still haunts my dreams .

Correct me if I'm wrong, but arent most of these artists who do this forced diversity race bend shit white?

I've seen some nice race bends and don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the concept, however a lot of the time it just feels like a patronizing, forced attempt at diversity just so people can show off how progressive they are. Like the white kids who brag about having black friends.
