The usual response is: male sexuality is free from objectification and oppression, and only males are equal to each other in a relationship. Their main argument for writing slash fiction is downright misogyny. And they hate it when you point it out.

TL;DR- They're too lazy and unoriginal. Or maybe yaoi gets them more clicks than yuri does.

Any excuse they provide for why they make yaoi content, like "LGBT representation" or the example you've mentioned, is 100% them bullshitting. an excuse. This is a pretty good example of the shocking difference between western fans and Asian/Russian fans. Both literally draw the same subject matter down to the uwu'nization of boys and gay twink porn, yet one side come off as actual reputable artists and the other as annoying, mentally challenged legbeards.
