Unless you have a really special use case, like you're actually doing shit that multinational corporations and glowies are willing to come at you for, a VPN isn't going to rat you out without some kind of valid court order. If they did, they basically go out of existence.

I believe Mullvad does not keep logs. However, if they get a valid court order, they're more or less required to do something like track your FUTURE activity, so if you have the big boys after you, they ARE going to get you.

They may have exploits for all these things, but they aren't going to burn some zero day on the likes of people who say naughty no-no words online, though.

Any vpn provider operating within a *eyes country is required to maintain logs for the purposes of say, terrorism prevention and other potential threats. The "we don't keep logs" crap is merely part of a sales pitch and mostly bullshit aimed at making sales.

Anyways, it's off topic so I'll leave it at that.

Hard to do when the only identifier they store is a randomly generated account number. If you're a retard and paid with your credit card, then sure, you could be tracked that way.

Or if after you do whatever "bad" thing you did, you continue using the site. Outside of jurisdictions where keeping logs is absolutely mandatory and there are actually penalties enforced for not doing it, simply having a zero data retention policy is legal, but on notification they can nail you the very next time you use the site and it is illegal for the VPN to refuse such an order.

That said anything you do that attracts the glowies or even particularly aggressive and wealthy corporations should be done with far more security than just a VPN.
