That's enough to buy a good new computer. And that's just on that silly game. It's been said before, but no wonder he complains about not having enough for everything basic and the bonus round.

Also, it's sad that that's pretty much one of the few highlights of his day while cooped up in the hoard with Barb - buying collectible stuff.

I believe the height of his purchases for the Simpsons game was when he was literally sleeping with Barb and spent almost every moment with her. He couldn't play his PS3 without Barb commenting. Handhelds were his only safe haven at the time.

Nintendo is doing it right. They don't unlock anything, they just come with weird features that barely add anything to the game.
That's actually brilliant. Nintendo knows there's a segment of the audience who will buy everything just for the sake of having it, so they appeal to them directly without ruining the game for everyone else. The world goes on as usual for most people, and Nintendo still gets to fill their pockets with Chris's rumpled, slightly damp money.

Yeah. Like they add almost NOTHING.

For Smash you get an NPC version of that character you can train level up and customize, basically worthless and for Mario Kart you get that character's outfit for your Mii. There are other games but they're all practically as useless.

In other words Chris is about to make Nintendo a lot of money.

Skylanders is like a version of Beyblade but with a digital game, right?

Oh, disregard that. Those crappy injection-molded figures are £14 EACH. For ONE. Some of them are £20 and even £30. I thought they were like £1 each or something... how does any child afford this? Is Skylanders played exclusively by autistic adults on tugboats? I can't imagine kids convincing their parents to shell out hundreds in order to match Chris's unstoppable tugboat army of plastic shite.

It's designed to get money from gullible kids and their parents. Chris is a gullible kid with no parental supervision.

Kind of like football, or really any sports merchandise bought by the masses.

Fifty bucks for a cheap shirt with a jets logo on it? Count me in!

Professional sports are nothing but a slightly more socially acceptable form of pretty much every fandom.

Anyway, guessing Chris will fill Nintendo's pockets for Amiibo. I'm a pretty big Nintendo fan but even I am skeptical of Amiibo.

Leave the jets alone. They've suffered enough this season

How much is £ in real money? :hulk:

With a little math and a pinch of Wikipedia I think we can really break this down.
The internet told me the game with the 'portal of power' costs 42 USD at Target. Compared to the standard 60, that's not bad for a game. (That's probably how they get parents, "Oh, this game is cheaper.")
Wikipedia says Skylanders creatures have 8 classes. Let's assume you're gonna want one of each class, you're gonna have to by 7 of these things (buying the game comes with one.)
After looking at prices I found 15 dollars to be the cheapest and most pleantiful price for these things.
So 7x15 = 105 dollars on figures, bringing our absolute lowest possible total to 147 USD. (About 99 BPS or 118 Euros.)
But our Chrissy would never settle for cheapest possible.

This link below shows the most expensive Skylanders pieces, it's kinda scary.

I'm still pissed at yesterday.

Damn. Still, at least it's not as bad as the more extreme end of Yu-Gi-Oh collecting. Some cards run up to £100 each. For a single card.

Skylanders combines Chris' love of cheap plastic collectibles with his love of bland, family-friendly media. Add in his hoarding tendencies and the way he spends money like he's allergic to having a full wallet, and he's pretty much their ideal target audience.

Apparently they do because other games with the same concept have come out, and I don't think adult autistic children alone could've accomplished that. Not when I almost always see at least one kid in the Skylanders section, and usually two or more.

I guess these are also the kids who can afford those in-app purchases of £79.99 for 10,000,000 in game currency units that you can use to reach endgame in some single-player app.
