In the Indian class, we talked about religion and stuff. A discussion happened over religion usually being the last cultural structure to adapt to change.
I made the argument that sometimes culture is changed by religion. Other people talked about how religion is sometimes forced to change by law.

I then said that religion doesn't always change even when laws change. I made the example that I don't recognize gay "marriage" or abortions as legal or right.
Everyone squirmed, so I continued that religion can cause the change in the laws, and I cited abortion again as something that is tending that way.
Then the teacher talked to us all about the importance of tolerance and open mindedness, and let us leave 10ish minutes early.
I was getting a bit angry at how everyone was talking about religion as an artifact of culture that is supposed to change to match the times.
