Drama, betrayal, malice, laziness, scammers, shitty programmers, lore-spergs and much more.

This you will find all at the ever growing modding community of one of the most popular Bethesda games.

Between the most complex plots to the most simple "lulz" mod, exceptionalism is something that does not lack here.

Let's start by the bigger fish first:

Giskard

200x200-Cme.jpg

Giskard was an old modder from the Elder Scrolls Community, who managed to get banned from Nexus mods because of his autism, so he started a secret club where he made mods only to his loyal sheep(The engineering guild).

But someone managed to get inside his little sand castle and leaked all his mods.

Giskard threw a fit of such epic proportions and started a personal crusade against reddit, bottom line his insanity got the best of him and eventually retired from making mods.

Also managed to get an article on ED after such stupidity.

How the whole fiasco happened by r/modpiracy POV users:

https://web.archive.org/web/2017042...iracy/comments/35kqc5/giskard_mod_collection/

And the gameplay from his last mod:

Giskard alone would be thread worthy himself, but he is basically inactive as lately.

Another tale is the one from the Skyrim Romance Mod.

Too many romance plot mods for man, they said, it is time to give something for the female userbase , they said.

So let's just make a rip-off from Neverwinter Nights 2 and ask money for it.

It didn't work it and they discovered it, so let's just spill crocodile tears all over my blog, of course.
https://web.archive.org/web/2016033...om/skyrim-romance-mod-1272015-apology-letter/

Here is the gameplay from this fiasco:

But just let's not forget the entire 2015 shitstain that was the whole paid mod thing.

Gabe Newell and Todd Howard are of course the main ones to blame, but let's see how the community reacted when they got 25% of whatever.

Crap there was never a community, lock the thread right now.

The people who made the mod necessary to make 75% of the Skyrim mods work(SkyUI), started asking money for it.

After 3 days of the entire event turning into a complete disaster, the whole thing was canceled, there was a giant fracture left, but the wounds would recover with the time, but of course there is poems of regret to share until this day.

*The guy who wrote the poem above, is also the creator of another essential mod(USLEEP), he also didn't react to the event very well.*

But besides these 3 stories, there still many tales to tell:

The guy who asked for 44k dollars to make a sequel to a shitty mod.

The guy who chimped out because political reasons and deleted all his mods:

And even the dark corners of the community, which is entirely made of the most deviant fetishes:

You link Novajam videos and you don't even link the one that gets most lore-spergs raging.

And its sequel.

I'm on mobile so screencapping would be a pain, but if you sift through the comments on both the Youtube page and the mod page, you'll most likely find people reeeing about how the game breaks every facet of canonical lore, especially in the second video.

Also, I'm a bit torn on this being in Community Watch. It fits, but shouldn't it be in gaming instead?

ApolloDown is a funny one, so it started as some argument on the Nexus forums about adding more races for Imperial Legion soldiers amd how it didn't fit the established lore and was too saturated, then evolved into a argument about diversity, THEN about Trump, Apollo started accusing people of racism, the other side called him a SJW, he more or less chimped and revealed he is in fact a massive sjw. It turned into a hilarious clusterfuck and then Apollo removed his mods, originally intending to keep them gone until after the election, putting up this message on the dl page:

This file has currently been set to hidden by the author of the file. You cannot look at this file page or download any files relating to this file until the author makes the file visible to the public again.

The reason given by the author is: All of my mods are hidden until November 9.

Since Trump won he supposedly had another chimp out, decided to keep his mods removed and retired from modding.

This still makes me laugh because the civil war overhaul mod (his only work of note) was only popular for about a year after the game was released and quickly fell out of favor once it became obvious how unstable it was and how much it conflicted with other mods. Nowadays everybody recommends not to bother with it and its not available for the special edition either.

On a side note, if anyone was interested in trying modded Skyrim now's a pretty good time to get into it. The special edition has its own nexus page because everything has to be ported over to work with the new tech, so only the best creators and most up to date mods are on there while the garbage has been left behind. The "top files" category is like a curated list of the best mods that have been made over the last few years.

a skyrim modding thread and no one is talking about Arthmoor?

Oh, I heard of him.

Apparently, he was involved in what the Something Awful board called "Gategate".

Arthmoor is someone I've dealt with, believe it or not, since I submitted a bug report for Skyrim Special Edition via their bugtracker before, and it seems when it comes to quashing bugs, he's not that bad a guy.

Gategate, though, was when he made a mod that added Oblivion Gate remains to various parts of Skyrim, insisting that for lore reasons it wasn't like they just vanished post-Oblivion, and apparently it was married to some other mods he made that people liked but he insisted on making the gate remains mandatory for those mods and threw a massive fit when people released mods to remove them.

He eventually approved a "sanctioned" mod to excise the Oblivion Gate remains, but for the longest time he apparently went on a crusade to insist how they were totally lore immersive and thus they should not be patched out of his mods by other mods.

I don't remember many of the other details of that, so if I got something wrong, someone please correct me.

lest we forget the famous horse vagina mod:

Did their :autism: cause thrm to modify every animal? Or do this to stallions as well? Or were they specifically female horsefuckers?

And just by asking these questions I feel like I've overly tainted myself with :autism:.

I always found it funny how he bitched about people leaking his mods, yet you could still find copies he had uploaded himself on third party sites. On his forum, he would occasionally conduct purges of the userbase, purging those who he found disloyal (they criticized him or didn't do anything). His mods weren't awful, but they weren't great either. They contained plenty of spelling and grammar errors that he would lash out at whoever pointed them out. He blamed it on his 'dyslexia'. He would also become enraged if someone admitted they 'cleaned' his mods (cleaning reduces the amount of conflicts caused by unintentional edits by mods). I think that was the cause of one of his first autistic flareups. Also hated compatibility patches and proper load order, pretty much telling people they should only use his mods. He reminds me of Chris, with his obsession with the trolls 'preventing' him from doing what he wanted, how he hated the conservative government for making his life harder (taking away his welfare). The ED link mentions Giskard coming on to Reddit to complain, but that's most likely a troll given some of the comments (and the spelling).

His site is down but here's an archive: http://archive.is/jV71e

Since THIS particular Pandora's box was opened, grab your barf bags if you need them, and I'll tell you how the adult modding community of Skyrim works.

The Nexus is where you can find all the fanservice mods, nude mods, and some sex mods, mostly the really vanilla stuff. Anything really explicit was banned pretty early on.

If you want to find where the really deviant stuff is, go here:

http://www.loverslab.com/

You require an account to download anything from here (unless it's hosted externally and linked), and it's got an age gate, don't enter unless you're an adult.

Loverslab is where you can find sex mods for damn near any game where people want to see characters going at it. And yes, they will allow all sorts of rape, slavery, and bestiality mods, among other perversions.

However, they do have one line I'm happy to say they won't cross:

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/2734...e-regarding-content-with-underage-characters/

tl;dr; We don't host pedo mods for anything, we won't tolerate it, we don't accept bullshit excuses to justify it, and we will toss out anyone who hosts anything like it on our site for any reason.

You cannot link Loverslab on the Nexus because Nexus doesn't want to slap an age gate on itself, and some mods may require stuff you can only get on Loverslab, so they just tell people to look up whatever the mod is on Google on the Nexus mod page if it has a dependency on aLoverslab mod.

It's worth mentioning that some nonsexual mods sometimes require Loverslab mods, especially for Skyrim, since some mods require customized skeletons for bodies to perform certain physics functions, and the same bone structure mods that allows sex mods to work are often used for custom poses mods. The same is true for some other games like Fallout 3/NV/4/Oblivion, etc.

To my knowledge, the Nexus and Loverslab have a public policy of not pissing each other off, but it's not uncommon for people banned from the Nexus to show up on Loverslab, often because they made something too explicit for the Nexus and got banned for it.

I'm surprised that a video game as mainstream and generic as Elder Scrolls managed to develop such a spergtastic community - it's usually the obscure stuff that was never that popular to begin with that does this, though I guess there are exceptions such as Sonic the Hedgehog; but to be honest it wasn't until the "Sonic craze" of the 90s feel out of style that the Sonic sperging really began in force anyway.
