Not to powerlevel too much, but I'm an American who currently resides in one of the "core" European countries. Where I live, countries like the ones Margie and Thonie come from are not considered to be really part of the west and pretty much Europe's answer to Mexico. They were allowed in the EU/Euro just to make sure they can't devalue their currencies and hurt manufacturing in countries that matter.
