Where's the fucking follow up to Allan's landlord?
I'm just gonna tell myself they're going to come back with season 4 on April fools.
And I'll keep doing that every year like I do with Jontron during Halloween time.
I still don't know who Doctor Monster is.

I wonder what's going to happen to all those weird self insert channels now.

Speaking of which. This was kind of foreshadowed with the last episode of the cool autistic gamer 774.

I will always remember his most iconic catchphrase. "Big McThankies from McSpankies"

Bowing out while on top is infinitely better then putting out two mediocre seasons (season 4 and 5 were ordered by Adult Swim so they were being funded) they aren't invested in. You can't force true funny. You can't force creativity. We've seen what happens when series creators clearly are checked out and keep going. The Simpsons has been a shell of itself for 26 years and is still kept alive because of sheer greed. Fuck that.

As much as I am disappointed, it's probably the right choice so as to not turn into the next Rick and Morty.

At the very fucking least Michael and Zach were present the whole time, both for the writing and voice acting, unlike Dan Harmon tossing the show off to a bunch of randoms and Justin Roiland only coming into the studio once a week to record a few lines and cash a check until he got cancelled and replaced by two new randoms.

Michael Cusack and Zach have confirmed that Season 3 was the last season of Smiling Friends, but they don't deny that there will be more special episodes in the future.

This is the premature end of an amazing era of Adult Swim, but my god, they ended in a pretty high note.
They always said they would end whatever they did at its high point.

Since it was announced there'd be season 4 and 5, and since they'd mentioned they may end after 5, I would speculate they were working on the new seasons, weren't feeling it, started thinking "ok we're done after this" and that turned into "ok let's stop right here"

And that's fine

Id rather it end here, then drag on for far too long. I hope they go onto great adventures and still keep that amazing charm this amazing show had. Very sad, news, but kinda happy-ish too.

People keep making the comparison to Rick and Morty and I really just don't see it. Rick and Morty had the fanbase it had because the theme of the show was pop science "MORTY GODS NOT REAL AND NOTHING MATTERS WUBUBLABADUBDUB" nihilism. Smiling friends is anti-nihilism. Anti-apathy. The creators were also literal Redditors. There is no Rick Sanchez in smiling friends and Zach and Micheal aren't Redditor people they are Newgrounds people to the core.

What I will say is the show did for whatever ungodly reason attract Tumblr freaks which was super funny to me knowing Zachs real opinion on people like that.

You're right, but I think they meant more like a Simpson's syndrome where it goes on and on and on. If Rick and Morty practiced KISS, I think it would be overall a better show but it went on to become a parody of itself. Regardless of the nihilism; I got burnt out on on that subject with Bojack.

While indeed it's sad to see it ending earlier than what most would want it to, in a way it's good to end on a high note.
At the very least it won't become another shabbagoy PICKLE WICK crap tier show of them just churning out new episodes to get people to keep on paying for that TV Cable (or streaming) bill. I'd also say that Smiling Friends would be better off anyhow vs if it went as long as Rick and Morty has been going for.

Ending on their own terms is about as bittersweet as overstaying your welcome. Hate to see the end :drink:
