I think it'd be funnier if, no matter whether the above happened or the other guy's "Jared gets released" does, Jared dies either way. Even if he gets released he walks out of prison and promptly gets run over by a bus or something.

Then when he arrives in hell, he lands on the Boss's side and just leaves through whatever entrance Boss uses to enter and leave hell. Last scene is him back in the normal world walking into a daycare. Cue credits and cheerful music.
I love that this what if became a bunch of fan fictions about Jared Fogle

I watched this show in full weeks ago and only now has it decided to become my most recent obsession.

I have recently interpreted Charlie Dies and Doesn't Come Back as Charlie not actually going to hell when he died, but purgatory. He is a low-key Catholic as evident by him wearing a cross Sopranos style and is vocal about keeping the commandments, so it isn't out of the question that a place like that could exist and he could go there as Christianity is canon (or at least the wacky cartoony version of it).

There are aspects of hell that appear to have materialized out of Charlie's point of view at the time of his death; It's "personalized," if you will, for challenging him directly.
  • Hell being frozen over was because he died around Christmas out in the snow, so that environment carried over into the afterlife.
  • All the demons being typical and lame come from his opinion on how they are depicted in media he watches or how he characterizes evil in general.
  • His grandmother is there and for an incredibly mundane reason that he says is unfair — a reflection of how Charlie views the strict standards of being a Christian since he's more relaxed about it. (It's funny how she doesn't seem that bothered by being damned for all eternity 🤔)

Then when he reached Satan, he is a Rust playing vaping slob that reflects Charlie's general attitude and his actions in the beginning of the episode (even has his room the same way as Charlie's in S2). Zach even said on the Creator Unknown podcast that it was supposed to be like looking into a mirror moment for him, and was originally suppose to have Charlie take a hit of the same model vape pen to further drill it down. With this, Charlie realizes that this lifestyle is unhealthy and only serves to make people miserable and confronts him on it. Satan, of course, resists this and lashes out on Charlie, but he was more concerned with making Satan smile than his current suffering (aka seeking true happiness even if it is painful). This is why God allowed him to escape at the end as he was able to see the error of his ways and push against the embodiment of his inner demons.

Personally, I don't mind Smiling Friends analysis into stuff like things in the background reappearing elsewhere or what counts as a critter or not. I know like 99% of it is just dumb shit that they put in because its funny, but it really adds to my enjoyment of the show and makes some jokes funnier because of the added implications.

I am very reluctant to watch videos on SF though because of the retarded wholesome uwu shit takes with some ugly zoomer on screen screeching half the time. They have nothing interesting to say and just want your money.

I have no frown and I must smile.

I just want to say, Charlie munching on that pickle is the cutest goddam thing I've ever seen.
I also like to point out the smallest details in this scene.
When Charlie gets his pickle, you can clearly see there's an already-opened jar of pickles. Yet Charlie decides to break the seal on a NEW JAR. when he easily could've opened the already-used jar with pickles inside of it.

Bit of an update on the expected but as of yet unfulfilled Create Unknown interview of the lads for Season 2:

For the first time in like 6 months, the CU guys are recording an episode as I type this, and they just said that the interview was supposed to happen around July, but it got away from them because they've spent all these months doing a series of projects (for Popular Science, and others) that emerged very suddenly, and included almost non-stop traveling to places like Vienna, Armenia, Argentina, and Albania, as well as health issues (notable quote: "Please, God, don't let it get it worse while I'm in the Balkans").
So no Zach & Mike S2 interview for now, but the CU guys intend to contact them and schedule it again, and in fact think it's better this way, because in their mind, an interview between seasons will work better than one right after it when everyone else is also talking to them.
Here's to hoping it happens, and doesn't take too long.

I'll post the video once they release it, but they tend to do it weeks or even months after recording. We'll see.

They've finally put out the video for the episode I watched live.

Last friday, one of them recorded another episode solo, because the other one was busy with something. Not much to say other than they haven't scheduled the Zach & Mike interview yet, but still intend to.

This post got nuked from USPG2 for being too good. It deserves to live somewhere, so here it is:

PROMOTING THE ADVANCEMENT OF AMERICAN ANIMATION THROUGH THE COMPLETION OF SMILING FRIENDS SEASON THREE

By the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in recognition of the cultural and economic importance of the American animation industry, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Purpose. The United States has long been a global leader in the field of animation, producing works that reflect the creativity, resilience, and spirit of the American people. However, recent trends indicate a decline in the production of innovative and impactful animated content, threatening the vitality of this critical industry. The television series Smiling Friends, produced by Adult Swim and created by Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack, represents a significant achievement in modern American animation. The delay in the production of its third season undermines the momentum of this culturally valuable program and, by extension, the broader animation sector. This order seeks to address this issue and reaffirm the United States’ commitment to excellence in entertainment.

Section 2. Policy. It is the policy of the United States to support the timely development and completion of high-quality animated programming as a means of bolstering national cultural output and sustaining the economic contributions of the entertainment industry. The completion of Smiling Friends Season Three is deemed a priority to counteract the stagnation in American animation and to ensure the continued availability of content that resonates with the public.

Section 3. Directives.
(a) Adult Swim, a programming division of Warner Bros. Discovery, is directed to expedite the production of Smiling Friends Season Three by allocating sufficient resources, including funding, personnel, and scheduling commitments, to ensure its completion no later than December 31, 2025.

(b) Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack, as the principal creators of Smiling Friends, are urged to prioritize and accelerate their efforts in scripting, animating, and producing Season Three, in coordination with Adult Swim, to meet the aforementioned deadline.

(c) The Secretary of Commerce, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, shall monitor the progress of this initiative and provide a report to the President within 180 days of the issuance of this order, detailing compliance and any obstacles encountered. The Secretary is authorized to recommend appropriate measures to ensure adherence to this directive, including potential incentives or penalties within existing legal authorities.

Section 4. Economic and Cultural Significance. The animation industry contributes substantially to the national economy and serves as a vital component of American soft power abroad. The timely production of Smiling Friends Season Three will reinforce the United States’ position as a leader in creative industries and provide a model for future endeavors in this field.

Section 5. General Provisions.
(a) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(b) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof.

(c) This order is effective immediately upon signing and shall remain in effect until its objectives are achieved or it is otherwise revoked or modified by the President.

Issued on this 19th day of March, 2025, in the two hundred and forty-ninth year of the Independence of the United States of America.

[Signed]
Donald J. Trump
President of the United States
Just signed an Executive Order to save American animation, which was the best in the world. Smiling Friends Season 3 is coming soon—Adult Swim, Zach, and Michael are on it, finishing by 2025. Talked to Mr. Boss, a tough guy, he said, “Mr. President, you’re making us smile again.” Charlie, Pim, and Allan were with me in Butler, part of my Secret Service detail—real heroes. Bullets were flying, but they didn’t back down—Charlie said, “We got you, Mr. President,” Pim kept smiling, Allan stayed cool. Also, we're working on turning their amazing charity into the OFFICIAL US Smiling Service to help America smile.

Even with how the boys helped him out in Butler, I didn't expect him to get so involved in the production. But I guess he's as anxious as the rest of us for season 3.

Once I discovered it was gone I laughed really fucking hard. I think it was the spoiler blocks. All the serious recap posts of real EOs and articles have spoilers. It tricks your mind into thinking what you're reading is news. The thought of someone looking through the alleged screencaps, nodding their head, and then seeing the photoshop of Trump with that one fan art and immediately getting pissed and reporting that post just floors me.
