On my re-watch I actually personally like the Mr. President episode the most.

Mainly because it feels like Zach got to sneak in a lot of jokes in that one. The phone briefly showing "Industrial Society and Its Consequences" which of course none of the usual suspects who would hate such a joke has noticed, a somewhat subtle 9/11 joke with "Doesn't matter which channel" which is known to us as OneyPlays viewers but probably not to general audiences & execs at Adult Swim, a joke strongly suggesting Mr. Boss is going to assassinate the President (probably wouldn't have gotten that passed the censors now), a major plot point suggesting that the media is both supporting and part of an elitist conspiracy that controls our leadership to their own class benefit, Charlie depicted as the stock "crazy homeless conspiracy nut" after he actually learned the truth, etc.
I like it for those reasons and also the line, "I'm going to be the money president" is really funny to me

i'd like it if they made eighteen episodes a season rather than 8-9 is the problem. SF is like an adult Spongebob in structure but doesnt run in the double-bill format. i get this could risk a quality drop but maybe if they had a longer production time, like a mid-season break, it could work
Wasn't there already like 3 years in between seasons? (Ok, it was closer to 2, but still)

I think the worst problem so far is the two year or so break between seasons. They need to have a higher episode order, not a longer runtime.
I don't think it's intentional, Zach literally specifically said that he didn't want the seasons to take 2 years to make in an interview (One of the Creative Unknown ones). Don't know what happened, but production seems to be a major issue from what I have heard behind the scenes, like relating to the Magical Forest episode with Mip the animators (Harry Partridge and others) were apparently really killing themselves to make Mip work on the budget and time they had. They said they had the collective budget of like one Family Guy episode or something. So I wonder how much support they actually get to make this show. One of the arguments that Zach always made to get on TV from the SleepyCast days was more support to do bigger things IIRC, but I always found this to be a bit idealistic personally. They could have enough resources now to be able to make them faster though, hopefully.

I love the cartoon of the the Smiling Friends defending Mr. Frog that is based on the Trump assassination attempt photograph. However I would really like to see one that is the same, only with President Jimble instead of Mr. Frog.

"Everyone that trolled me, and gave me nasty messages...fuck you! Fuck off! Jagoff! Thank you."

I'm getting antsy about the popularity of the show.

I said it before, I trust Zach and Michael to be able to keep a level head and not decay into a Harmon/Royland or so, and this means nothing to the quality of the show, but the fans are starting to get annoying. There's so many videos out there now about all the references, "Smiling Friends Icebergs", how important the show is, how it changed everything, etc.
Yesterday I saw one that did a relatively deep dive on Zach's history and trajectory, and I fear these kind of things are gonna expose more of the wrong people to Zach's wilder days on NG and the Sleepycast. The video even talked about this, and shows there's already TikTok girls going "omg sooo disappointed to find the creator of SF is on Oneyplays".

The Create Unknown (that podcast with the Vsauce guys that has had Zach as a guest several times, as well as Michael and the music guy*) mentioned in a recent one that Smiling Friends bongs have replaced Rick and Morty bongs. That's a worrying symptom.

*Incidentally they stopped uploading for a while, but seemingly kept recording it normally. They're now releasing the accumulated episodes on YT every 2-3 days or so, and it's funny that they mention the show as the episodes air. They've also confirmed Zach and Michael are coming back to the podcast, but they don't know when yet since they're just a little busy right now.

All in all, it's pointless to worry either way. It's not like being worried is somehow gonna change anything. If Zach gets high on his own ego that'll happen if you worry or not. All we can do is wait and hope they stay humble and true to themselves. If smiling friends turn into rick and morty I guess we'll have to just find something else to enjoy. Wouldn't be the first time, and it won't be the last time.

Both Zach and Chris has insisted that they believe hollywood doesn't change people and instead just reveal their true selves. I suppose that is being put to the test with them as the guinea pigs.

I'm also feeling a little antsy about this but bear in mind Rick and Morty drew in a crowd of lunatics because it was funny while also trying to be kind of edgy and pretentious, primo reddit bait flying spaghetti monster tier shit. It was also marketed to hell and back by this point (season 2) and you really couldn't escape it no matter where you went. I don't think SF really appeals to normies that much by comparison.

I've said it before (maybe even in this thread) that Smiling Friends is the next show that autistic fans will ruin for normies. They did it with Rick and Morty. They did it with My Little Pony. They did it with Steven Universe (which I straight up refuse to watch because of how awful the fans are). Smiling Friends could very easily be the next thing that gets hijacked by an awful fanbase.

Faggots are always going to faggot.

If the show stays good, it stays good. If it gets gay, I'll call it gay. Just like with Rick and Morty.

Fair assessment. I just hope it doesn't go off the rails and the fans don't give us a "I'm Pickle Rick!" sperg fest over Nugget sauce or some shit.

I haven't even encountered other Smiling Friends fans IRL or online aside from right here. I'm telling you guys just stop using social media and watching faggy video essays regarding the show on Jewtube, you won't have to put up with any potential cancer then. Are your own viewings and the Kiwifarms discussion threads not enough? :)

This is a very good point. Honestly, the only place I hear all these rick and morty comparisons is here (and a few memes I saw on social media when Season 2 launched)

I've only met one person IRL that likes Smiling Friends, and he wasn't a faggot about it. He just asked me if I like Oney too, so even then it was still kind of an "insider" thing I guess.

This but less the quality of the fandom which is bound to be shit for any animated show on television with even a modest following, but more that the more eyes is on the show the more likely a bunch of weirdo freaks are going to dig up Zach saying nigger & faggot on SleepyCast in a compilation, then cause a fuss about it and get the show canned. I have been expecting it since the show was announced, but I think Zach might genuinely believe because its ~10 years ago nobody will care, which is a big mistake.

Adult Swim also seems from both their social media feeds & whoever writes the bumpers to be really Twitter-coded, gives me Twitch staff vibes. Using retarded GenZ slang and memes etc. Either that's just marketing or they might give in to cancellation very quickly. No doubt that they fear "creating/enabling another Sam Hyde" too, despite how dumb that is.
