I cannot believe that Zach is ending the show just so he can hang out with Oney, drink diet soda and smoke weed.

So this is what Baby Boomers felt like on February 3, 1959, when that titular plane crashed in Clear Lake, Iowa. The Day the Funny Died. Goodbye, Charlie, Pim, Allen, and Glep. You truly were a couple of Smiling Friends. Say hello to Carl Brutananadilewski for me in the Adult Swim afterlife.

If the rumors are true that they just dropped this on the staff without warning, laying off people who thought they had job security for 2 more seasons, then it's a pretty awful thing to do.

Nevermind

I seriously doubted that they wouldnt tell the staff that they might call it early.
I saw one guy claiming to be an animator being upset being pissed at Zach, but how else are you supposed to tell your staff: "Hey this show that we said we're gonna do five seasons for? Yeah we're getting kinda burnt out and don't want it to get stale so we're ending it at season three." Without upseting someone? They own the show and can do what they want with it.

I don't know, its true that it was probably going to become Rick and Morty but i don't believe they didn't have at least a season or two more in their sleeve. It feels more like laziness and wanting to coast off the merch and royalties just as the show was getting big.

They will regret it and will try to bring it back to make a shitty streaming movie in a few years when its already too late and its not funny.

It's disappointing but I'm glad we got what we got in this hellscape of utterly shit tier Simpson rip offs even as the Simpsons rots away from life time voice actors to decrepit to play their roles anymore alongside usually weak writing ( There are rare decent Simpsons episodes made to this day but you have to essentially watch with subtitles as 80 year old voice actors gravely voices choke out their lines).

I hope they have success with new projects and this isn't their retirement.

I think everyone could agree that five full seasons would've been the most satisfying way to end the series. Around 40-50 episodes with a dedicated finale to make it feel like everything's been said and done, there'd be less fervent demands for new specials, people could likely separate Zach and Michael's future projects from Smiling Friends.

IMO it's probably a crossroads between them being overly paranoid about becoming the Simpsons or Rick and Morty (the SleepyCabin crew's entire brand is mocking low quality/cringe stuff, to become cringe and uncool would violate their right to talk shit) combined with the grueling realities of producing 8-10 episodes of in-house animation on a TV schedule.

Fuck and just when i thought the world couldnt get any gayer, the series needed at least 1 more season to wrap everything up if they wanted to close it, the third season feels like it was picking up steam for something greater, oh well, i still have Space King.

People started calling it the next Rick and Morty so they said fuck it and ran for the hills.
Honestly, I feel like 3 seasons is a good stopping point. I like the characters and humor but I could see myself getting sick of them after 1 or 2 more seasons and honestly, S3 was a lot more hit or miss than the previous 2.

Michael Cusack and Zach have confirmed that Season 3 was the last season of Smiling Friends, but they don't deny that there will be more special episodes in the future.

This is the premature end of an amazing era of Adult Swim, but my god, they ended in a pretty high note.
Good.
They have the balls to end something funny while it was still funny, and not milk it to death like family guy or Rick and Morty.
Thank god.

Regular reminder that Dan harmon is a lolcow and serial self sabotager who torpedoed at least 2 other shows before Rick and Morty and season 3 onward had a huge overhaul of its writers. Rick and morty going from extreme heights to extreme lows wasn't something that just happened out of nowhere, it was a perfect storm of incompetent checked out showrunners and replacing good veteran writers with completely horrible rookies with egos the size of planets.
You don't just "pull a rick and morty" because you reach some arbitrary length and have cringey fans on reddit. news flash, every show in existence has embarrassing fans on reddit, it's fucking reddit.

What the fuck happened to season 4 and 5 I thought they were greenlit
The jews.
They probably got harassed over that Christmas episode and probably still are getting harassed in a variety of nuisance ways. They didn't want to deal with it and decided to call it when they did.
And before you mark it dumb, I want you to think. Would the pettiest group in history carry a grudge and do everything they can to make someone miserable over a simple joke?
Would they ever do something like that?

We probably would have gotten one more okay season out of it. So it isn't the worst thing never, its just a shame they had to deal with BS.

i don't know, the glep episode is my least favorite because they went that route of overexplaining a gag character, i can see it becoming more and more self referential and adding unnecesary "lore" . Zach also repeats deliveries and voices a lot. Repetition over time hurts the humor, i think its more than just the fans that make a show end up like Rick and Morty but 3 seasons is still way too early for those sort of troubles to bring it down.

Regular Show had a similar premise and set up, were 22 minute episodes and still got fairly consistent 8 seasons.

The fact they instantly go "this isn't a joke, this isn't a bit" makes me paranoid that it is indeed a convoluted joke and bit. I know I'm just coping, but Zach's constant gaslighting of people is taking its toll.

Tumblr Trannies on suicide watch fr fr
Well, some of themof them. I checked Tumblr to see how they were taking it, and there was one guy talking about how miserable he was and how he had suicidal thoughts over it. But the real crown jewel of tumblr faggotry was this...

Though, for the most part, the opposite is true when it comes to tumblrites, most of the new posts are pretty sad.
