So, Akira's live action remake's synopsis just came out.

Are there any anime to live action movies which haven’t been disasters? Even the few manga to live action movies were bad like “All you Need is Kill” to “Edge of Tomorrow.”
Havent read the whole thread, but i thought Fist of the North Star had it's schlocky charm... And Alita seems cool, haven't seen it yet though.

When I saw this last week I was thrilled...until they said the West would handle it.
Does Hollywood even remember what will happen if they put live-action adaptations of Japanese let alone Eastern media into their hands? I always ask myself, "Just why can't the East do it?" I know that Japan and Korea does a fair share of live-action adaptations, but they were all the more faithful with the source materials despite CGI being relatively tokusatsu levels of basic in some. Then again, turning something live-action could make or break the fans and non-fans' impressions.

Battle Angel Alita. I guess that's it, at least for me.

Careful. Peter Jackson, Guillermo DelToro, Max Landis, and James Cameron are fighting over this as we speak.

After seeing "Meet the Feebles" on movie night I think peter jackson could do a good job with beserk. Guillermo too.

... stay away, max. stay away forever.

Nuke Hollywood already you fuckers

My least favourite thing about American/Western "re-imaginings" of Japanese media is that the influence of WW2/Hiroshima and Nagasaki are completely ignored. It's an examination of post-war Japan's collective psyche, and that aspect is lost when you try and place it in an American setting, or any setting for that matter.
Reminder that Japan has fucked up some of their adaptations, it's just it's a miracle or would be one if the US ever does a tolerable adaptation

Yo got a question for any French Kiwi weebs out there. I heard you surrender monkeys made an adaptation of City Hunter. And apparently it's pretty good; even Tsukasa Hojo approved of it similar to how Yukito Kishiro approved of Alita.

Can you confirm it's good, and can you take over any future anime/manga adaptations in the future please, k thx.

I'm a fan of the Guyver manga and I have sadly have to say that those live action movies were pretty terrible. Apparently the DVD version has even been censored into a kiddified version, too.
