Soda

I got some novelty sodas from a family member for easter. Among many classics like sasparilla and old style root beer were some weird ones. One was Mandarin Orange flavor. It had a distinct flavor of orange tictacs, and I swear it had an aftertaste like alcohol. I actually got kind of paranoid and checked the label, just normal soda. Would not reccomend though. Tamarind soda is also a no go. Its not as nasty as I thought it would taste, but its still really dull and watery in an unpleasant way I can't fully describe.

Normally when I buy seltzer water (fuck you it counts) I tell myself that there's no real difference between Lemon, Lime, Lemon-Lime and just plain seltzer. I go through like a skid of that shit a week, if I was drinking soda instead of seltzer I'd be dead from diabetic shock in a month. Anyway, it occured to me one day that I'd never bought plain lemon seltzer. I tried it recently and much to my annoyance I like it better than the other vareities, so now I have to go out of my way to get it when I'm at the store.

Its sold out half the time too. I'm probably competing with some old fuck who keeps cleaning it out to make some mixed drink nobody has heard of in 50 years.

Code red and voltage are the only good Mountain Dew flavors, fight me.

Cheerwine is one of the best and I hardly see it get the recognition it deserves.

Lemmy’s works good as a substitute, also.

The KFC-exclusive Sweet Lightning flavor (it’s peach and honey-flavored) is growing on me, I just wish PepsiCo would give it the same treatment as Baja Blast and bottle it on some occasions.

I don't drink non diet sodas, but fuck if they made Sweet Lightning in diet I would love to try it. They did make Code Red in diet so I am hopeful.

My personal favorite is Vanilla Coke Zero, which coke still makes but there is some covid-related ingredient shortage so I haven't seen it in a year. I also like the new Pepsi Zero Sugar Mango, it sounds sick but I saw it at a gas station the other day and was impressed.

Anyone try the Mango Pepsi? I kinda wanna try the zero version, but I can't find any that doesn't come in a 12 pack.
Do not do it! I beg you! Mango and Pepsi are apparently ancient enemies. Their combined flavours in my mouth made me go "Wow! Well, that's definitely a thing..." The Pepsi and mango will fight to the death in your mouth, competing to win in cloyingly sweet sensation, that never mellows or compliments. And the aftertaste lasts fifteen minutes.

Finally found Buffalo Rock ginger ale after like a year of looking. I still haven't seen Mt. Dew Code Red or Vanilla Coke in months, though. I mostly drink Dr. Pepper, but I am legitimately trying to cut back on soda and stuff.

Also, to round out my Very Important Opinions on Soda, Sunkist is the best orange soda and Grapico is the best grape soda.

I saw vanilla Coke zero for the first time in a year at a random grocery store I happen to be in and bought every 12 pack of it they had.

Also starting to see mango Pepsi zero sugar in 12 packs so I hope it becomes a permanent thing.

I prefer lemon/lime and ginger ale. If I'm drinking dark cola, I like Dr. Pepper or Cherry Pepsi.

I'm getting to the point that I really can't finish a soda anymore, save for Pibb Xtra, which isn't even available where I live. Everything else tastes "off" to me now, especially all flavors of Mt. Dew.
I guess I should be thankful I can get Pibb Xtra easy where I am currently.

This.

Its what I drinked throughout my childhood, so I have a soft spot for it, tastes a bit like 7up. Its the Turkish knockoff of sprite and its 10x better than sprite imho, although anything could be great if you set the bar that low.

This is not a drill! Pepsi Blue is BACK!

It’s missing that killer packaging, but it feels good to see it back in stores.
