What's wrong with paying for software?
There's nothing paid on Windows or Android that there isn't a better free alternative for.
Apple on the other hand... is such a walled garden that even the trash costs money.
Typically nobody pays for utilities or security on Windows. 99% of it is built in or provided by Microsoft. For power users, Powershell is your best friend. Can't remember the last time I had to touch anything in explorer that wasn't a copy/paste.
For Apple you typically need a full suite of different paid software just to try to get comfortable.
