I am, of course, leaning towards troon.

The thing is that when you combine the schizoid, belligerent, masculine attitudes with an IT background the likelihood of Empress being a troon is in the ballpark of 99%. A purely speculative figure of course, but when you're on the internet long enough you just know.

No women would ever talk in the same extremely confrontational and hyperbolic way as Empress does. He writes way too masculine to be anything but a troon.
there's nothing particularly masculine about the way her posts are written, its just schizospeak from someone who clearly isn't a native english speaker. Now if it is a tranny or not idk, but the way she speaks sure isn't moving my opinion either way.

Sure sounds like a pissed off gal to me

People like empress are people that have a specific skillset that's unique and useful but at the same time have, let's say, "social issues" that pretty much makes it impossible for them to have a proper, normal job. Then they end up doing things like this.

That said, egos and schizoposting in the cracker subculture are really nothing new, as are gay slapfights. Many an crackto on my Amiga games is basically just a big rant calling out somebody else. It's sometimes funny reading that stuff ~30 years later.

I guess we have less crackers these days not necessarily because of the higher bar of entry, but because these kinds of skillsets are infinitely more marketable and the whole tech workspace always has been more permissive to crazy assholes and rockstar egos to begin with.

That said, that empress guy (and let's not kid ourselves here) seems genuinely unstable and I'm not sure how smart it is running his code on your machine.

This sort of thing happened a lot too in the anime bootlegging days of the beta and vhs era, even back in my day i remember huge slapfights between subbing groups online. I knew some autists who were manually translating and syncing subs in dozens of anime series, usually from english to spanish and always for free, sometimes even straight from japanese as a couple of them were really that dedicated they even learned moonrunes , they were so dedicated that they hardly had time to watch any of it for fun.

Random vendors were making more money than the subbers simply by ripping it from the web , burning it and selling the subbed anime on a street corner, i never understood what drove these translators, it makes sense they fight over credits and reputation among niche groups of nerds since is all they get, is always other people that gain more from it.

This dude called himself Landerextremo and was well known because he had a cracked version of windows that always started with his stupid photo. He cracked a bunch of software and if you bought a bootleg during the 00s it was probably a copy of his version. What he gained from it was barred from leaving Venezuela otherwise he'd get legal trouble. Few are going to be retarded enough to publicize their real face like this retard but its still too risky for someone with prospects.

Why is Empress the only game in town though?

I know a LITTLE about game cracking, and although it's extraordinarily difficult these days, I have a hard time believing there's only one person on the entire planet capable of breaking Denuvo.
I have been wondering this as well. The fact that this autism troon drama has even been able to occur in the first place makes me disappointed. I get that there isn't any direct incentive to crack games but how come it seems that there are fewer and fewer people out there making releases?

theres that one other guy but all he does is crack the football manager games once a year

Fitgirl and Empress are both trannies lol.

Whoever thinks otherwise must also think every anime girl avatar talking about coding they come across must be a real woman. Empress might not even be just one person but a group.

The slapfights are pretty stupid but they do it for free.
Fitgirl might be a real woman though, from what I remember they don’t crack their own shit, merely repackage games and cracks made by others and upload them highly compressed. Or did that change?

Denuvo is absurdly difficult to bypass and those that have the potential ability to do so will get paid far more by working a legitimate job.
Consider this - would you rather spend most of your life cracking vidya for ungrateful freeloaders, earn fuck all outside of the odd crypto donation, have the constant fear of being arrested and sued to hell looming above you, OR just get a job with a consistent and safe income?
If that choice didn't already narrow down our pool of potential Denuvo crackers, you also have Denuvo willing to hire those that have broken their anti-tamper software and they supposedly pay really well.

Empress is a unique case in that they're obviously too unstable to take the legal and safe option, but they also have the knowledge and skills required to understand and break Denuvo by some miracle.
If Empress were to suddenly disappear or get their doors kicked in by law enforcement, we're going to be waiting a long time for someone willing or able to take up the mantle they'll be leaving behind.

@RSLUG30 beat me to it as I was typing this and he pretty much covered everything I was going to say, but the sheer difficulty and time investment for little to no reward is why you 1.) need a very specific skillset and 2.) a very autistic level of focus and dedication bordering on obsession, if you're going to crack games like EMPRESS does. There's already jobs for people with the skills needed to crack anti-tamper, so even mild autists who are good at reverse engineering are better off working a remote pentesting job than spending time cracking games. You need someone who's completely incapable of holding down a steady job and obscenely good at reversing, and that narrows down the pool of prospective spergs to give EMPRESS any real competition.

I think people seriously underestimate just how difficult it is to strip out Denuvo in big name titles. Game studios are willing to pay through the nose to protect their IP; Crytek apparently paid Denuvo €140,000 to have their game protected for a mere 12 months (A). You'd better believe that game companies (at least think) they're getting their money's worth.

Also, in case you're curious why that deal was reportedly only for 12 months, it's that game companies really only care about protecting their games for the first few months after release since the vast majority of their profits come only within the first month or two.

tl;dr there's way more legitimate, well-paying jobs that you can get with the skills it takes to successfully crack games nowadays, so there's just no reason to devote all that time and effort into it unless you're a special kind of autist.

sucks that all of this tranny drama got into the warez scene too. It also sucks that a lot of people on this forum won’t know of the glory days where your downloaded keygen played awesome music

You had to be there, but this is close enough
I use my favorite old scene chiptunes as ringtones and notification sounds.

The biggest plot twist of all would be if empress was actually legitimately a true and honest Russian schizo woman. It just doesn't seem possible (the woman part)
As much as I would like Empress to be a true and honest woman, I think she is not. Tranny sounds plausible, but I am inclined to think that there's a group of autistic men hiding behind that anime avatar. Her whole texts just scream sone typical 4chan/ 2ch dweller to me.

For Russian part - if anyone with such skills is STILL in Russia (good IT fled from it after the war), they is no way they aren't related to FSB. It's gonna be extreme case of omegalul if it is actually "a tovarisch mayor" hiding behind aneme avatar. A FSB gayops against twatter troons, what a time to live.
