Bigot Brigade Something Awful and Friends - The roller-coaster train-wreck embarrassing downfall of a Web 1.0 giant and its tick offspring like from Cloverfield

Lowtax allowed his comedy website to be overrun by troons and cat ladies who couldn't care less about his struggles as a heteronormative, cishet white male. He cucked himself into a corner and is now learning that wokepoints don't amount to shit in the real world. May the dubious legacy of SomethingAwful serve as a cautionary tale for future generations of community managers.

Heavy is the head that wears the non-toxic crown.

you should do some sort of breakdown on that

i'd be interested to see how much of an upcharge there is when your website is doubleplus ungood.
ISP expenses - $700/mo
Hardware RTO - $300/mo until September
Site-specific expenses - $100/mo approx
Rent + Utilities - $500/mo
Personal expenses - $300~$500/mo

If I could just host the site on a server like a normal person we'd be looking at less than $100/mo and my expenses would be covered by Google Ads and light monetization.

I don't know...I feel really conflicted by these new goings on. I like Lowtax, even getting past the whole loony lefty aspect. I find him funny. He was a guy I could call a faggot on twitter and vice versa. SA, I believe at least, has historical value in regards to the internet.

But... on the other hand... this is the bed that Lowtax made with Something Awful going down the drain. I suppose all things end. I'm just sad that SA's potentially going out like this.

To quote Dingo Picture's Titanic "Ahh, such sweet ennui".

SA's current userbase only makes Lowtax's "reeeeee no normies" stance on why he didn't make SA more mainstream even more obtuse. In a way, Null is sort of like that, liking the culture of the existing site rather than selling out, but Lowtax willingly let the site culture and its userbase deteriorate, and pretended like it didn't happen.

And as much as he's going on and on about keeping SA small, he did have an impact and made connections back in the days of the early internet. He had done some things with Rifftrax back in 07. He could have kept that stuff up as a comedian.

Unlike Lowtax, @Null isn't implicitly detested by the userbase of his own site.

That's about $3000 per month higher than when the latest round of begging started. It also excludes donations made directly through the SA website.
