I just noticed that they changed Knuckle's eye color. What purpose is that?

They changed Knuckles' eye colour as well?

RUINED FOREVER AGAIN

How can anyone still give a shit about Sonic? I know the first two games were OK but come on :? The series is pathetic

Nobody does. This is a clear, pathetic, attempt at trying to stay relevant.

They used Bangarang in the game's trailer. This is beyond pathetic.

Sonic is sadly the only thing that brings in the money at Sega anymore, hence why they never want to revive any long dormant IP's (JSR, Panzer Dragoon, Streets Of Rage etc.) because they think it will be a big gamble otherwise, and other franchises (namely the recent sequels to Yakuza and Valkyria Chronicles) end up staying in Japan for the same reason (they don't think the games will be very profitable).

Look I can say I am a Sega fan, but I can also say that Sega are only a hollow shell of what they once were.

Thankfully they won't use it in the game (there is a God )

As much as I loved Sonic, he's finally run his course. geddit? run?

The series has been going downhill for a long time, especially after the tragedy that was Sonic 06.
It's high time to finally retire ol' Sonic, but Sega simply won't. It's true that Sonic has been their big money maker, but they've beaten this franchise to death.

Now we have this reboot to deal with.

It's time, Sega.

Sega would financially screw themselves if they just let Sonic go. Sonic is like Sega's life preserver at this point. They have to keep milking it to survive, and their parent financial company that bailed them out post-Dreamcast days isn't really willing to let them take risks.

Essentially the day Sega says "no more Sonic games" is the day Sega files for chapter 11.

So in other words, Sega is essentially on its last leg or getting there.

Personally, I also think that they're trying so hard to remain relevant that it's hurting them.

So Sonic Boom is going to be both a cartoon and a game.

Edit, edit: Also Mario which makes it horribly funny when the two are put together

Mario still makes quite a bit of money for Nintendo though apparently (that probably is changing now considering the flop the Wii U is becoming and Nintendo's marketing strategy of SHOVELWARE EVERYTHING), I don't think Sonic has turned too much of a profit for SEGA since 2004 with the final Sonic Advanced game.

If I remember right, SEGA has always hated having to rely on the Sonic series so much and the fact he is their mascot. There was a point in the mid 90's when they tried to replace him as the SEGA mascot with another game (that bombed). Then they finally ditched Sonic as mascot in 2013 because (supposedly their reason) the perception had been ruined by fans and was now more of an icon of furries and was no longer associated with kid-friendly games.

SEGA's relationship with Sonic reminds me of Capcom's relationship with the Megaman series.

Yeah, you're basing that off a joke article from a fake news site. I remember it because it got Chris all riled up.

The article in question: http://www.p4rgaming.com/sega-seeking-n ... d-by-fans/

Ah, didn't know that. Curse those dang dirty troll articles! :x

Nintendo is stuck in like, the early nineties. They're not a good company anymore, they know it, everyone knows it. The DS is fine, I enjoyed mine a lot but they don't bother realizing they need to put some big money behind a new franchise and run with it. Throw Mario, Zelda games, Metroid, Kirby, and other shit that we've played for years on the backburner and do something new. They have such a goddamn boner over supposed innovation and yet their cycle of games is like the industry version of Groundhog Day. Hell, they could maybe make a Starfox game about shooting down ships and shit like Starfox 64 but no, they'd fuck that up and like they do with everything. How about Banjo Kazooie? Do they not own the rights to the franchise or are they too moronic to not use it?

Nintendo has been sniffing glue

Rare own Banjo-Kazooie. Rare is owned by Microsoft. Microsoft are like EA and Activision but on a smaller scale, so as you can imagine you won't be seeing any new Banjo-Kazooie games from them any time soon.

Considering the last Banjo game, that might be a good thing.

Throw...Metroid...on the back burner

It usually is always on the backburner. :( There was qn 8 year gap between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion, then after the Other M flop they stopped making Metroid games again.

Nintendo has tried to make new IP in the past, but each time it happens it either doesn't do very well or people claim they're not making a new Zelda/Mario game because of it. Indeed the majority of the time Nintendo does make something derivative like a new Mario/Zelda/Pokemon game, it sells millions of copies. So clearly from a business standpoint they're doing something right.

It's also worth noting that Nintendo has more money as a company than Sony, which is doing really shoddily right now. I wouldn't say they're "stuck in the early 90s" considering they try something different with their consoles every generation. Most of the time what people are referring to is how Nintendo consoles are marketed toward children, which is what Nintendo has done since the NES days. Mature rated games didn't come about til the 90s and they were always third party.

As well most of the time with their games while they have similar concepts an ideas they try something completely different in their execution. Like look at Wind Waker with how the majority of the game is spent doing this.

As bad as the Wii U is doing right now, Nintendo is doing exceptionally well with the 3DS. It's currently dominating the handheld market (excluding phones) and shooting the PS Vita out of the water. Needless to say Nintendo isn't going anywhere and they could easily squeeze out 1 or 2 more consoles in the next few decades before having to change it's business strategy that drastically.

And like someone has mentioned earlier, Banjo Kazooie and Conker are owned by Rare. There's already been one shitty Banjo Kazooie game in the last few years put out by them, do you really want another?

Forgot to post the game trailer. :stupid:

Can someone explain to me why Amy Rose is a playable character?

Not just in this game. I mean ever since the character existed. Why is she there? Why do they shove her into every game?

Ah, I don't give a shit. Sonic sucks balls and has for 15 years.
