Just dropping in for the obligatory semi-annual reminder that this isn't necessarily about Chris, because Chris is a perfectly average adult Sonic fan. He's not the only one, or even the first one, to get a case of Blarm Rage.

Yeah, I don't think there's reason to say this is particularly about Chris.
There was this SEGA merch video (done by SEGA) I watched where they accidently name dropped Sonichu.

I'd say they wouldn't have mentioned the blarms controversy in those ep if it weren't for Chris

Sonic Boom is made by an animation studio somewhere. Not the same company as Sega, they're just licensing the character out.

(Well and either way, Sega's a company with like 5k employees.)

I'm not saying that we 100% know this isn't about Chris, it's just that there's nothing that is unique to Chris in the Sonic Boom reference. Or even anything that I strongly associate with Chris.

Someone somewhere in the Sonic team's creative department is aware of Chris. The Sonic twitter page references him directly a couple of times. So I don't doubt at all the Sonic Boom writers have some inkling of who Chris is. It's just it's so much easier and frankly makes more sense to make fun of Sonic spergs as a whole instead of just one guy.

Literally the only way Sonic Boom will ever connect to an adult audience. (Besides curiosity, my reason for watching before the references)
I think it's amusing they take a jab at the 'older crowd' often as if they're trying to remind them of whom this show was for in the first place.

Yeah i have to agree and say it's too vague considering sonic fandom is pretty retarded in general

I knew people irl who probably complained about the arms too

Blarms was a pretty small but vocal group of people that did not like the Sonic Boom changes(blarms, Knuckles, all the tape), Chris didn't even seem bothered by it, but people poked and prodded him enough and eventually the sleeping giant awoke and the rest is history.

I wouldn't be surprised if the team behind this were aware of Chris - his chimpout did get quite a bit of media attention - but I think this is fairly generally targeted. It's a wink to anyone who's familiar with past shitstorms over minor Sonic changes. Not specifically Chris, but not entirely unrelated either.

Unless next week we get an episode where Mark the Tapir starts drinking his own semen and fucking a blow-up doll, of course.

I'm hoping a future episode takes a shot at plagiarizing copyrighted characters.
That would be a cool episode if out of nowhere there were doppelgangers of the main cast that just show up out of nowhere and claim to be the originals!

I thought OP was going to talk about old material, glad I was wrong.

I remember having a twitter convo with the dude who voices Eggman about this line in a song he wrote:
and he said the line was about ALL the fans complaining.
Not saying it's not about Chris, but it could potentially be a blanket about ALL the people complaining about blarms.

I must admit my manchildiness, because I watched the show when I spent xmas at family's place and imo it was rather nice because the show was surprisingly self-aware. Compared to earlier representations of sonic, the characters are goofied down to drooling idiots and the show is mostly about them being retards.

Considering that, cwc references make sense because cwc was one of the people dragging sonic into a edgy furry meme.
