The hostage shooting from atop one of the Teotihuacan pyramids in Mexico is apparently among the ones Sonic Team visited back in the 90’s during their holiday trip to Mexico, Guatemala and Peru for research during development of Adventure 1, though I’m not sure if the structure got really damaged during the incident.

You assume modern Team Sonic will put actual effort to a new game Sonic other than copying what's trendy, throw Ian Flynn at the thing, give a glance to check the guy doesn't go full retard with wokeness (but barely hidden woke is okay, such as Frontiers having Eggman praising Amy for her strength, or Sonic Gen's changing some cutscenes), be sabotaged by SEGA at some point and making the game worse than it should be, add Denuvo, and sell it for 60 dollaros.

Sonic R is being decompiled by jnmartin, who's known for porting multiple games from the N64 to the Dreamcast, as well as helping with porting the Sonic Mania special stages to the Dreamcast. As of now, he currently has a functional port for Mac OS X. However, he dared to note that he was going to be Claude to help him write portions of the decompilation:

...so naturally, instead of people being excited, a bunch of mindbroken faggots are seething that he dares to use AI to help with what's typically an excruciating, years-long process, because using AI means you're destroying the heccin environment and you're helping the heccin billionaire capitalist anti-trans society or whatever.

Isn't Sonic R a game that not only was ported to PC with more features than the saturn release, But had a dedicated group of modders fixing the problems said port(s) had?

What would the point of decompiling a game where the apeal of porting it to pc was already done.

Well the official PC port is ancient and a pain to get running on modern systems without finding an already cracked and modded up version of it to download. Making a decomp means you get a new port that works better out of the box and can be more easily ported to any system.

Reminds me, I heard some guys were trying to decomp the Neversoft Spider-Man game for PS1 because the existing official PC port is kind of shit, so a decomp could produce a better PC port.

Hello. First time sonic enjoyer here. I beat sonic 1, CD, 2, and 3 and knuckles and I thankfully still haven't turned into a tranny and/or Bowblax. I guess I'll do 3d blast next, idk I heard that game kinda sucks.

Let me just say what a fucking breath of fresh air it is to play something that doesn't have a EULA or a battle pass or daily challenges to artificially inflate the runtime. I know that isn't unique to sonic but still.

Sonic 1 and 3&K are pretty good. CD is okay. Sonic 2 is probably one of the coolest fucking games I've ever played. I also did the knuckles in sonic 1 rom hack and am currently about halfway through sonic 2 & knuckles. I have no idea why people were telling me knuckles is a hard mode, he makes both games way easier.

I could never get more than a couple levels into 3D Blast. It's not doing anything aggressively wrong per se, but it just doesn't feel fun to control and play. I hear the Director's Cut romhack which was made by the game's original programmer improves on it, but I don't know by how much.

I would recommend you eventually play Sonic Pocket Adventure for the NeoGeo Pocket. Its not super original since its levels are based off Sonic 2 and little bit Sonic 3&K, but the layouts to the stages are original and it feels about as good to play as the Genesis games. It's better than any of the Game Gear games.

Similar example: Butterscotch is an open-source implementation of GameMaker Studio’s runner that supports exporting to, in addition to modern devices, PS2. It can technically run (at pitiful framerates with bugs and crashes) a handful of games like the first demo of Pizza Tower, but the main focus is Undertale and to a lesser extent Deltarune. Meaning this guy is performing the herculean task of porting two of the biggest recent indie games to the PS2. But uh oh, he said he’s using Claude to simplify development (alongside his own years of prior expertise working with GameMaker Studio including making Undertale’s initial Android port), so some people like the Undertale Lost Content channel (it’s just bad fangames masquerading as early betas) are throwing a fit that he’s not typing and testing everything by hand.

I can understand concerns about AI code resulting in a buggy product when paired with a lack of human oversight, but if the end product works exactly as advertised, then who gives a shit? It’s not like art where one of the main merits is personal creativity, programming is about reaching a specific, objective end goal.

3D Blast actually isn't that bad imo. I feel that it gets way too much undeserved hate. I personally enjoy it for the most part.
The Special Stages were the only things that made the Saturn load times bearable. I really loved the high FPS polygon rendition of the Sonic 2 meme.
