You what? Almost everyone had large enough memory sticks to hold UMD games. Most PSP games were under 500MB once compressed and by 2008, 2GB sticks were quite common.
PSP was also marketed as an MP3 and video player, so you may have had all of that sharing your space. For compression and ripping data out of games, you could do it yourself with UMDGen, but that gets us out of the normie territory. .cso files were also temperamental, and some games wouldn't work when you compressed them. But yeah, you could eventually buy 2gb memory sticks for cheaper, but that was still after a couple of years of the PSP being on the market.

Also you could just move games back and forth. You didn't need to 'burn' a game to a memory stick, it was rewritable storage. You could keep a whole library on your PC and just transfer over what you wanted to play.
Yes, and that's what we did! Folders and DVD-Rs full of PSP games, because they took up space on our tiny hard drives.

All you needed was a guy who already had a hacked PSP to temporarily make a Pandora battery so you could start the process. And even if you didn't know a guy, a Pandora Battery was much cheaper and easier to buy online than a slot 1 DS flashcart.
A little bit later, yeah. PSPs on 1.50 firmware were the first go-tos, and all those needed were a simple file you could just run that jailbroke your PSP. Until 2.0 came out, and from there it became a rat race against hackers. I don't know if PSP-3000s or Gos ever got full firmware hacks.

PSP Go sure was a wacky one, though. I have one, it's a nice little system. 16gb of built-in storage was generous back in 2009, but selling it for $80 more than the base PSP with a bigger screen and UMD support was silly. And then it got hacked, too, lol.

Yeah, sony's response to 3rd parties concerned about the vita suffering the same fate as the psp was to say "Fuck you, we got ours, they have to buy our 5x or more overpriced proprietary memory cards even if they pirate"
Yeah, that was stupid. Early days of PlayStation Plus sure was great for Vita, though. They gave away just about everything worthwhile on there. So then I could give even more of my money to Sony, which developers probably didn't see much of. Kinda like Xbox Game Pass today.

It is eternally perplexing how Nintendo seems to be the only company in the world who knows how to sell and maintain a line of handheld video games.

Yeah, that will earn them more 3rd parties. Their thought process is baffling. The 3DS had Pokemon to carry it. What did they expect?
"Fuck you, we're sony, what are you gonna do about-Wait, what the fuck, why are you putting your lower budget games on 3ds/mobile and your higher budget games on steam?"

This reminds me of Life of Black Tiger. Everyone knows the PS5 desperately needs a game, but have some standards.

what exactly?
oh wait, you didn't archive... YOU FUCKING NIGGER.

"Fuck you, we're sony, what are you gonna do about-Wait, what the fuck, why are you putting your lower budget games on 3ds/mobile and your higher budget games on steam?"
Trying that when you know POKEMON is on the way shows that they have no self-awareness. Trying that when Steam is also a thing is beyond stupid. Sony was coasting of its competition making massive mistakes. Nintendo did well with the 3DS and that was that.

I legitimately think Rockstar/T2 have backed themselves into a corner with this one - they’ve spent roughly the GDP of a small country developing this game, and if it underperforms they’re in the shits, especially if it doesn’t have the money printer that is Online on Day 1.
They didn’t just backed themselves in a corner, they’re taking the entire gaming industry with them. Sony will likely be the most affected after Take Two. Their PlayStation 5 Pro is likely an iterative half step compared to the PS5 with diminishing returns at the cost of a mid range PC. It’ll take a miracle to jump back from their boneheaded decisions with GTA VI being their Hail Mary.

After RDR2 copied scenes from jew-written nigger wank tarantino movies, I've sworn off cockstar. Don't need to be spending hundreds on a single game anyway, retard shit in this economy. I ain't paying for goytendo, and I ain't paying for this. Ever since Vice City this has been the inevitable outcome of playing any GTA, get bored > enable cheats > kill a bunch of people > go to a rooftop with 5 star wanted level > shoot down some helicopters > continue getting bored > quit the game and never touch it again. I'm pretty tired of that loop.

Code Violet Reviews are coming out, you know the game by TeamKillMedia, the one that was spergin on X?

Yeah... it's as bad as we guessed.

Also, this CFP will be between the #1 team and the lowest non-joke seed, #10, and yet practically every other year of the past fifty years #1 would have been an underdog.

Edit: This was clearly posted in the wrong thread.

Being a Dino Crisis successor is a weird hill to die on. The first game is as blatant a RE clone as it gets and about a 10th as good (yes it was directed by Mikami but that would be like if DaVinci redid the Mona Lisa with dinosaurs and crayons). Really the best one was the second which was a straight up action game. So in a way getting 4s and 5s out of 10 at least matches the series its trying to ape

You know you have to fuck up astronomically badly for IGN of all places to hand a 40 to a Playstation game and comments to actually agree with IGN for once.
Good chance this is one of those rare moments when userscore and metascore will be similarly bad.

Its crazy that low effort slop like this can get soo much attention.

Is GTA6 really that important? That it failing to meet sales expectations will not just hurt Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive, but the entire industry as a whole? I admit I find that somewhat hard to believe.

"Beggars can't be choosers" sort of situation for PS5 owners, they have so little in the way of exclusives that anything being one is going to get attention form the usual pony grifters.

TeamKill Media are shameless liars, they knows they are making trash and they are doing their best to peddle it by stirring up controversy.

Compare the statement with the reality of the numbers.

I wanted to check some info regarding TKM and it seems to be a very small outfit.

TeamKillMedia.png

Their development costs are perhaps so small because they are a "2 guy on a garage" making Unreal Engine 5 asset flips for next to nothing and with the advent of AI content generation it becomes even cheaper to spam this type of trash. Just a few sales is enough to keep them profitable. Playstation's refund policy is so shit that they are ensuring very few people are going to get their money back.

If you check the company's website they have 9 other games in development. They are shovelware peddlers like good old Phoenix or Blast! from the PS2 days.

BTW I checked the listed address and found this:

The absolute state of PlayStation 5 exclusives.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: The game has an enormous budget, a ton of devs, a pedigree rivaled only by Pokemon (both in the sense that in the eyes of many, the games in the genre are considered "clones", the sense that other games plan their releases around them and the sense that a main series release is considered a world event), there hasn't been a new game for a decade and it is considered the flagship in which the reputation of the studio is relied upon. For the rest of the industry, GTA is the trend setter. It was the pioneer in open world sandbox that everyone else wanted to copy. "It is what the customers want." they would say to each other. If GTA could get away with an 100$ pricetag, the rest of the industry would follow.

So yes, the industry is paying attention because whatever happens will decide 40-60% of what will happen with the industry. If GTA6 does thing A and it is successful, everyone will try to copy it or double down if they were going to try it anyway. If GTA does thing A and it goes poorly, everyone will avoid doing it or cancel it if they were starting to pour money into it. You might have a hard time believing but remember how everyone tried (and still tries) the open world sandbox game after San Andreas came out and doubled down harder when GTA4 and 5 came out? There is a reason for that.

The guy behind TeamKill Media is really good at exploiting the console war on social media.
People will continue to fall for it and give him attention while he scams the sonyggers via the lack of proper refund system on the PSN.

It's IGN. The only "astronomical fuckup" was failing to bribe and schmooze them adequately. That or someone at TeamKill has deeply offended one of the dangerhairs at IGN (or in the "gaming press" in general since it's all the same eight fucking idiots anyway) enough to warrant a full-court cancelation.

Can we agree that this song was one of the greatest things that came from the whole PS5 debacle?
I know it has been posted ITT before but YT recommended it to me again just now and it is just so good. The voice break on the "dollars" in the "My God, Concord cost four hundred million dollars?!" line sends my sides into orbit every time, same for "Here's Last of Us 2 again, here comes Last of Us 2". I actually like it more than the original by now.

There was only ever one game that interested me on the Vita, Persona 4 Golden, and before its PC release i briefly toyed with the idea of getting a Vita just for it, then i saw the prices for the Vita memory cards and immediately was like "Nah, i'm out". I already ate that shit when i bought a Sony camera long, long ago without knowing the cards for it were proprietary (clear error on my part, won't deny that), never again. Fool me once etc.

I find it particularly funny how all the posts about PS3 having no games have aged even finer than evergreen, being more applicable now than they were at the time.
(Back in the day on /v/ there were some PS3 has no games parody song posts which have now been reignited with the PS5).
