Sony hate thread

If the modding tools work, maybe I'll do it. Of course I'd have to actually get the game, and a game that's not even about the actual Spider-Man feels pointless. I didn't even love the first game that much, the writing was terrible.

The only selling point Sony had for me was a near exclusive right to JRPGs that mattered and for the life of me I can't even think of any in current day. They could have also done an insanely obvious move and catered to weebs with visual novel but they fucked even that up. The Switch has nearly all of them for the console market because Sony is so ass-backwards with censorship. I never thought I'd see the day where Nintendo was more lax on censorship than Sony but hey, their execs seem focused on atomic piledriving the company into the ground because half of them still think their products should be home theater systems and not for videogames.

Ten years ago, Octopath Traveler would have 100% been a Sony exclusive. It's a game that's designed to look like a PS1 game with post-processing effects, so naturally it should be on PlayStation consoles, right?

Wrong, it's on everything but PlayStation, lmao. It's a full-fledged true & honest JRPG that's on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, even fuckin' Stadia, but not PlayStation 4. Imagine getting cucked by dead & gay Stadia :story:

I always thought Octopath was supposed to look like a SNES title. That's what it always reminded me of, except for the lighting.

Doesn't really matter though because still it shows how Sony fucks everything up. Like recently with their claim to be putting classic titles back on the service. Have they? No not really. They have a huge amount of things they outright own yet seem to refuse to put up. Nintendo is guilty of that as well but it's something I've come to expect of them. With Sony getting their ass handed to them by Gamepass I figured they'd actually want to do something right but no of course they shit their pants and refuse to admit the room stinks.

Honestly the only PS5 "exclusives" I'm looking forward to are FFXVI, FFVII Rebirth, KOTOR remake and Wolverine since we know all of those games will be on the PC at least a year or so after the console release.

And I'm not very confident that the KOTOR remake will turn out good since Disney shitcanned Aspyr from the project and you know it must've been really bad if Disney knew it was shit, not to mention they haven't made a good Final Fantasy since X (I still liked the VII remake tho).

Ryan Bloom gives his thoughts on Sony making PS4 versions of their PS5 "exclusives".
Ryan Bloom said:
I keep thinking about a statistic I read a few weeks ago: In four days, Splatoon 3 outsold every single PS5 game combined (in Japan). At Gamescom, Namco’s Harada apparently joked with Sony executives that he still doesn’t have a PS5 because his name “never came up in the lottery.”

Last gen versions of games will stop happening when hardware adoption has grown large enough to support a greater push to the latest and greatest. As long as guys like Wario64 are still making tweets alerting people to if, when and where waiting queues are, then there are not enough consoles on the market to dethrone the PS4.

I’m sure Sony would love to sell more PS5s if they could, but apparently they can’t. So if a publisher wants to justify a return on a 100 million dollar game, they need to put the game out on platforms where people will buy it.

As soon as that stops being true, the market will force the stragglers to shift. Sony didn’t make the PS5 just to sell it in little dribbles. They want people off the PS4. Microchip shortages and production problems are preventing that.

Microsoft has spun this all out in a smarter way, which is to simply refer to everything under one blanket of “Xbox.” If you own “an Xbox” from the last six years, then chances are you get to play some version of their latest and greatest. It’s a family and an ecosystem to them, because they decided to invest in backwards compatibility. Something Sony never learned.

I have a feeling Sony’s attitude right now is something they’re going to start paying the price for, if they haven’t already started.

How about something more classy?

Speaking of former PlayStation exclusives, the coming re-releases of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are getting native Series X/S versions but the PS5 version will be a PS4 game running in back-compatibility mode.

I'm sorry for being ignorant but will that make a huge amount of difference? I mean it's shitty on Sony's part either way but I can't seeing it making much of a difference considering they're not exactly something which would even slightly push the boundary on even a PS4.

I assume various multiplats being on XSX but not PS5 is from different gens of Xbox having a much more similar environment and APIs than PS4 and PS5 do. Maybe there's also more devkits or they're cheaper or something but I assume that's the main difference.

I suppose we won't know until the games come out but it's just sort of odd.

They're pretty old, aren't they? They may be too hard to port, like a lot of the older titles probably are.
Nothing is too hard to port if you are willing to put in the work. The Last Guardian is only came out last generation, and Shadow of the Colossus has already been remade and re-released multiple times. Only ICO itself is still stuck on the PS2.

Yes but that's my point. I don't think they are willing to. Even though porting their back catalog of games to PC like the original Uncharted trilogy, Infamous, Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, and so on would be very profitable, they're probably not willing to invest the time and effort involved.

Ico was on PS3 too.

But that's simply due to stupidity and lack of will, not because they'd be too hard to port. They would be trivial to port. Sony just don't care enough to do it. Same as with Bloodborne.

The next GT7 update will have a whopping 4 cars, up from the usual 3:

And it's almost November, so we'll probably also see another price increase on the Legendary car vendor.
