Everything else are ports of older stuff. But don't worry, 100 games are supposedly in development for it, just buy it now for the price of a PS5 itself and wait for games to show up eventually. https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/psvr2-100-games-in-development-digital-only/

The only PSVR game I ever heard anyone talk about past its release window was Beat Saber, and that was on an immensely successful console, so my expectations for the PSVR2 are so low, they're somewhere near the center of the Earth. I will get one when they start giving them away in cereal boxes.

The first hands on reviews for the Soyny VR headset version 2 $500 boogaloo have gone live. Digital Foundry's own John Linneman did a review on it and its one game. I took the liberty of clipping the best section of the review.

Here is the full video at the rough time code I pulled.

Notable Sony Pony Salt Distributor Fritanga summed up the initial drama in a video if anybody cares. https://youtube.com/watch?v=mYc846PEsxQAlso during the DF direct weekly they followed up on the stance.

Getting Back On Topic:

The launch lineup of the Sony VR2 only has Horizon as a new title from what I've seen.

I always had an inkling in the back of my mind that Digital Foundry were massively biased review cucks. They might put out some good retrospectives on old series and present video game graphical tech well, but they clearly are cucked. They happily reviewed the very bland and mediocre game by the name of Forspoken yet won't do this Harry Potter game that's much more successful sales wise.

I know this is getting off topic, but I think DF might deserve their own thread, but I don't know if they are lolcow enough. This is really autistic:

They have an ongoing war against a subreddit called r/FuckTAA, which as you can tell by the name, is against the prevalent use of Temporal Anti Aliasing in everything. Basically they just want an option to disable it, because TAA causes the image to be blurred and ghost. DF thinks these people are literally insane, and continue to tout TAA as the greatest thing ever and literally get upset when games don't have it. They have gone on their livestreams and literally make fun of the subreddit for having a 'wrong opinion', apparently the discord is extremely toxic in regards to them. I just watch from a distance so I don't know the exact specifics, but check r/FuckTAA and they might have more to say.

Also their coverage of Metroid Prime Remastered, they said the game has no Anti Aliasing at all, and now everyone is taking their word as gospel. I have checked personally using raw capture and discussed with modders and the game does in fact use 2xMSAA. I think DF thinks there is no AA because they only ever use TAA, which blurs the entire image, while MSAA is not a post process technique and is done when geometry is rendered, so it can't clear up any aliasing on surfaces, only geometry edges. It's been a week and they still haven't corrected it, and now the sheep that watch DF are going around spreading 'misinformation' that the game has no AA.

I'm sure someone who watches them seriously could give actual lolcow examples, but this is what I've seen, autistic as it may be.

It's why I believe japanese entertainment media (be videogames, comics and anime) have gotten a lot more popular since the past decade because the western counterparts are struggling to have attractive-looking fictional characters, or even have appealing art directions in general. The heavy consumption through Internet only made things easier to happen.
Japanese media has been super popular in all eras. Samurai and Kung fu movies were mainstream. Mario, Sonic and Pac-man are the biggest names in gaming and they're all Japanese and from the 80s-90s. Anime has become more main stream but Japanese media has always been popular in the West. Mostly because it's acceptable quality and they sell the rights for peanuts.

Blood Dragon was a decade ago and pretty much the last hurrah. The fact they never made a full game like it was a sure sign the industry was fucked. Instead we just got Far Cry with increasingly faggier villains
BD is the only one i can currently remember, i was going to mention how FC5 goes with the whole jab at right wing religious people but i also remember that wacky shit can happen at random that may have wildlife involved or not and how the villains fail to make themselves important or threatening because again, jab at right wing religious people.
even lastest hogwarts game itself also has a woke message in it but the game itself is okay and fairly decent if a bit repetitive, then there's DOOM Eternal with their faggotry about making a storyline about the doomslayer and trying to give lore into the doom universe about anything other than ripping and tearing unless it's doom3 so they can keep milking the franchise and feel like there's a reason to it.

it also highlights how things are different for both regions too, take crysis and halo for example, they go with plenty of expanded universe things like comics, plushies and whatnot and eastern games do it too but how they do it is different, eastern expanded universe is light hearted about itself while western isn't, remember kai bitch leng on ME3? the fucker was introduced on a comic...
this is also why it saddens me a little, because of c-level executives we can't have good western games at the moment unless someone purges these roach infested places which are marketing divisions with molten promethium, it's all about charts and percentages on how things will work with the expected money from blackrock while japan doesn't really care about it, they care about sales and if it's a well established thing/developer doing something, take dragon's dogma 2 announcement for example and how it made jannies go turbofag mode with a sticky so >never ever couldn't be spammed while starfield has a ton of shills making and bumping it.

Wait, Beat Saber was PSVR? Only other games I can recall are Astro and that obvious tech demo Batman Arkham game. Not sure if Astro is good, but the Batman game is noted as being shit.

Came to PC.
The only two actual exclusives I'm even interested in are Golem and Déraciné, but both are just games that just happen to be VR.

Also Golem has a mandatory section where you get swarmed by giant bugs and I literally can't do it :(

Beat Saber is on everything, pretty sure its coming to PSVR2, too, even though Facebook owns it now.

I don't think anyone here really cares about being off-topic, half of my comments on here are talking about Microsoft for example lol. When there's juicy Sony stuff to roast, we'll know and laugh.

Who would give a shit that there's people who want the option to turn a certain feature off? Especially when it's something like AA, which seems to cause almost nothing but problems for people? The DF peeps seem weird.

The Batman game isn't so much shit as it is unbelievably disappointing. They made a VR game of BATMAN for fuck's sake, and you don't even get to beat up a single thug. It's just a bunch of simple puzzles, like a lot of VR games of that time.

4 cameras is not enough for VR, especially with inside out optical tracking. The thing is going to be shaky and will lose track the second your controller moves behind you outside of the camera's field of view. I despise Facebook for killing PC VR, this is probably going to be the same.
that hasn't been an issue since the PSVR1 (which had a different tracking anyway) and basic bitch WMR headsets.

farpoint, that robot game which got a standalone version, that one british gangster game from the demo disc which apparently got a standalone game way too late, moss (multiplat but lot of sonyponies don't have a PC, let alone PCVR) and I think 1-2 more.

PSVR suffered the same issue as PCVR that once the hype imploded and people didn't line up like crazy to buy the latest niche enthusiast accessory, support died down hard. tbh I'm surprised sony even did a PSVR2, they gonna eat quite a loss for that price and in the long run, but sony is also too dumb/incompetent trying to recuperate it by making it PC compatible so I have no idea why they even bothered (although fwiw PSVR was probably the best consumer grade VR solution before the quest).

graphic/framerate fags up way to high their own ass who get enabled by a horde of retarded cocksuckers (like half the internet these days), because measuring frametimes and higher numbers apparently makes you a technical and design expert...

Not a surprise, the german guy is always on RetardEra.

I know its been improved, but from all that I've seen, all the Oculus footage is very shaky, and those have more cameras than the PSVR2. I've used most of the big name ones up until the Rift S, so if they have been majorly improved since that I wouldn't know first hand, but optical camera tracking still seems like the budget solution and still behind against even the first version of the Lighthouse system. $500 bucks for this, on top of it requiring a PS5 is just stupid. You could get a standalone Oculus (or meta or whatever) for cheaper, or go slightly more and get a Lighthouse based headset (but you would need a PC, but VR ready PCs are a lot cheaper now than 5 years ago).

The tracking loss seems like a bigger issue than the shakiness though, the cameras are all positioned on the front, with no angling. It looks like they overlap in their FOV, which is needed for 3d tracking, but unless there is another camera under the TV, as soon as a controller moves behind the faceplate of the headset tracking will be lost. Oculus and similar headsets solved this by putting cameras on the bottom of the front plate, they can still lose tracking if you put your hands directly behind you, but not from just having them at your sides. This seems like such a blatant issue that I have to :optimistic: that they have some sort of solution, because I can see this becoming really annoying fast. You would essentially have to look at everything you are grabbing.

it's all about charts and percentages on how things will work with the expected money from blackrock while japan doesn't really care about it, they care about sales and if it's a well established
This really isn't true though is it? Places like Crunchy Roll and Netflix are having a big impact on Japanese media. We've seen Tekken devs directly respond to American complaints. We've seen race swapping in Pokemon remakes and half the cast of S/V are various shades of brown. Japan is opening it's media up to the West and seeing massive profits from it. Media was one of the few winners during covid and you can bet they're seeing money signs when Netflix says 10k per nigger you can fit in.. and make one a dyke for a bonus 5. Capcom is all in on the poz and Ashley in RE4 may as well be 80 with how she's covered up.

How is this VR? It looks like a mouse 3D adventure game.

What VR headsets recommended for PC these days? I saw there was a VR Halo 3 and that looks cool. Would be nice if I could play it sitting in a chair. I'm not big on waggle but VR seems an interesting experience.

Can people just admit VR shit is a fad? Nobody in their right mind prefers standing up from their chair/sofa and moving their hands and feet around like a retard for 2 hours instead of just sitting down comfortably, picking up a controller/mouse and gaming. People may try it once or twice, but that's it.

Valve Index if you want the best quality, if you are okay with lower resolution and worse controllers, you might be able to find a Vive second hand for a few hundred bucks, although you can buy the index controllers alone if you want. Avoid the Facebook stuff, they literally use the tracking to 3d scan your home and require a facebook account. I think even using the pc cable can make it look worse because its USB hdmi so it crushes the colours (I might be wrong). Not sure if anything has changed with the WMR headsets but those were decent as budget options a few years ago. There are also those chinese Pimax headsets that use the lighthouse tracking and have like 8k screens, but I heard those have issues.

I know people hate the 'waggle' but actually playing a game like that is completely different from watching. There are still games that work sitting down, but nowdays everything is made for standing/room scale. It's a good workout if that's your thing. You can play Dolphin games in VR, those are good seated. Luigi's mansion in VR is like you are looking in to a doll house. Metroid Prime is the best in VR because you can bind the wii motion stuff to the VR controllers.

A lot of VR games support 'Seated' play, but still use the motion controllers, its just awkward in some games. Half Life Alyx is pretty good for playing seated, Valve went out of their way to make it playable with anything.
