Sony hate thread

I mean the Switch is already dominating Sony and basically ran them out of Japan. I consider that good enough. We don't need Microsoft shitting the industry up with their anti-consumer practices and "lets just buy EVERYBODY" bullshit.
Outside of pretty much just Japan, nintendo and sony have pretty much niche-partitioned themselves. As both budgets and timetables for game development inflate, I think the remaining A and AA are gonna even more increasingly move over to nintendo, but those pretty much only exist still in Japan already. In the west, you basically only have indie and AAA (some of which could practically be AAAA at this point with the marketing budgets behind them). The development costs and low software sales are gonna make ps5 a hard sell for smaller budget games, while none of the switch 2 leaks really suggest it's going to be pushing in on sony's AAA turf, and nintendo hasn't really expressed much more than a passing interest in live service stuff, which is where sony is almost entirely focused right now.

Microsoft can take their gay lastinx of color and shove it up their collective asses but I want them to have a moderately successful console biz that inexplicably lets me continue to buy hardware that plays most good xbox 360 discs.

All the niche PS2 type Japanese games that used to be Sony exclusives are either multiplatform or Switch exclusives now.

And yet the Switch 2 will probably still end up outselling the PS5. And while it won't be as capable as PS5, all indications are that it will at least be able to "keep up" with it, like the Steam Deck.

Get a PC and an emulator. You will be better off (if the game in question isn't already on PC).

There’s a new gang on the dark web that claims it’s breached all of Sony’s systems in a ransomware attack.

According to a September 25 article from Australian cybersecurity publication Cyber Security Connect, the PlayStation maker was cracked open by Ransomed.vc, a new outfit of hackers that’s only been operating since September—though the publication suggests the gang has connections to previous dark web forums and groups. Cyber Security Connect reports that the hack allegedly unearthed screenshots of Sony’s internal log-in page, an internal PowerPoint presentation outlining test bench details, several Java files, and a document tree of the entire leak housing 6,000 files.
“We have successfully [compromised] all of [Sony’s] systems,” Ransomed.vc proclaimed. “We won’t ransom them! We will sell the data. Due to Sony not wanting to pay. DATA IS FOR SALE. WE ARE SELLING IT.”

Within those 6,000 files are supposedly a bevy of documentation, including unknown “build log files,” a swath of Java resources, and HTML data. Many of the files are reportedly in Japanese. While Ransomed.vc hasn’t listed a price for the data, the group left contact details for Sony to get in touch and listed a “post date” of September 28, which might be when Ransomed.vc will just post it all.
Interestingly, Ransomed.vc seems to be a ransomware operator and a ransomware-as-a-service organization. That means that alongside these large-scale hacks of major corporations, Ransomed.vc (which VGC claims operates out of Russia and Ukraine) also reportedly works with the EU’s general data protection and regulation (GDPR) and other data privacy laws to report vulnerabilities in company systems and violations in the laws. According to Cyber Security Connect, the group is leveraging laws to reportedly bully victims into submission.
Sony has not publicly commented on the breach or the nature of Ransomed.vc’s impact on the company just yet. Kotaku reached out to Sony for a statement.

This isn’t the first time Sony has been hacked. Back in 2011, the company’s PlayStation Network suffered a massive breach that saw some 77 million registered accounts compromised and online features totally inoperable. It was so bad that Sony not only had to explain to Congress what happened but also began giving away games and money a few years later as compensation. Less than 6,000 files may not seem as egregious as that PSN hack, but a hack is a hack all the same, so here’s hoping Sony can batten down the hatches ASAP.

Somehow, they’ll blame Russia more than Ukraine for this one. Yet for some reason, Russian hackers > our American ones.

At least they know how to code and pirate properly.

All Of Sony Systems

Oh wow that sounds significan-
Cyber Security Connect reports that the hack allegedly unearthed screenshots of Sony’s internal log-in page, an internal PowerPoint presentation outlining test bench details, several Java files, and a document tree of the entire leak housing 6,000 files.
Guessing this is one github repo someone publicly forked. Doesn't sound worth much.

Some more GT Movie news:

Ticket sales are now up to $41.9 million domestically, and $110 million worldwide. Note also that the movie only debuted in Japan a week ago, but I don't think that'll push it to breaking even, let alone making money.

The movie is available for paid streaming on Amazon and YouTube. Probably trying to squeeze out a few more $$ from GT Stans.

And the DVD and Blu-Ray versions of the movie will be released on November 7.
My god, I'm going to be sick

Still waiting for Bloodborne, playstation's only exclusive that matters.
The Team Ico games on PC would be pretty nice, but you can already emulate Ico and Shadow, and the PS4 version of Shadow was hire this man'd by Bluepoint, so really just Last Guardian that would be nice on PC. The thing is that Team Ico (now GenDesign) got into bed with Epic Games for their next game, so its going to be a perma exclusive to the EGS. Other than that maybe the Gravity Rush games? Nothing else really, funny how they are all Japanese games, which Sony killed. I think people want Ghosts of Tsushima on PC but that game just looks like another Ubisoft open world.

So yeah really just Bloodborne.
