Sony hate thread

Aniplex was even restructured in itself.
By publishing more games on Switch because sticking only to a dying Playstation and ignoring a console system popular among japanese kids/teens are both retarded moves

The Demon Slayer fighter game was in production before they changed the Aniplex stuff for game development.

I mean Yoshida has pledged that Sony will spend $18 billion through 2024 to expand its presence in gaming and anime. They're really not going to ever put playstation in a secondary position especially since both Santa Monica and Guerilla got 300 million in cash infusions for more titles recently.

It doesn't help that there's this extra layer of sleaze to it. Hololive/Cover Corp, I get it: they're a talent agency, that's their whole deal is to push new talent by using the latest trending technology. Whatever, I can just ignore it. Sony Music...isn't, afaik, and sanctioned, boardroom-approved, mass-produced, shoved-into-your-face VTubers just reminds me of why I hate the music industry so much. Same shit, different tech. Shit gives me flashbacks to that one bit at The Game Awards or E3 or wherever, with CGI what's-her-face catgirl where her main gimmick being chat messages appearing on her boobs. Now imagine that, but now with Sony Music execs breathing down their collective necks, not allowed to stray from their image lest they upset the brand.

Though again, maybe I wouldn't think about this either if they made it interesting. Oh wow Kuwazuki Shoamatzu's favorite food is cat litter? Damn, so quirky, what an interesting factoid on this ID card sildeshow that tells me nothing about how any of them act.

I've just really hated moe/idol shit and anything related to it in general for much the same reasons. A ton of this shit just existed to sell merchandise because it was viewed as a means to make a quick buck, and in the end the shows lack in quality was shown to be a real low point. Vtubers are not really any different.

It's like they're not trying and they're making something in order to coast and once it's done it's discarded, it's like they're not trying to make anything that lasts or stands the test of time.

Did you patch the game you burned with anything before burning it? Did you use a PAL game?
Does the "PlayStation 2" logo that appears when booting a game have any logos or text added to it saying what modchip it is?

So there's fuckups for the new digital games. Somehow PAL versions of the new PS1 Classics are being deployed in regions that they shouldn't be in(allthough the regions most affected seem to be China). People are saying that everything is PAL but Syphon Filter (and I think Intelligent Qube) are most definitely the NTSC versions.

There's an unconfirmed rumor that the Japan Studio games may have been junked years ago because everyone running the studio was Sega levels of retarded and the PAL versions may have been the only salvageable ones. There's about a half dozen regions for each game that still need checking and not all are live.

Generic anime girls are very trite now. There's not a single unique or interesting thing about those.

You could have told me this one was from one of the Castlevania games on DS, and I'd believe you.

1653333575564.png
And you could have told me this is some dream girl from some anime about a high school kid whose all lonely and this girl comes to him in his dreams and encourages him and becomes his dream waifu or something. From like, 2008.

Anime's had such a placid and indistinct style that just isn't evolving at all. It's like a parallel to superhero movies in the west, how they've gone past being a distinct era in cinema, to just the defacto thing that cinema is now. The pleasant-yet neutral looks on their faces, the moderately different-yet-samey styles, even the cutesy music and silhouette slide-ins are all shit we've seen before a billion times. They're carefully crafted to be inoffensive and cute, by a board of businessmen who've carefully tweaked it all to be as profitable as possible. This is dystopian art. It's the anime version of Allegra, aaaaaaaaaaand my caffeine ran out after typing all that and i put off finishing this fuckin post until late in the day and now i got no energy for writing and all i gots to say is them bitches generic as fuck

While those designs in particular are nothing to write home about, I wholly disagree on this crude generalization that is ignoring the idea of art movements stated since times ago. This is like saying for example baroque or classicism art are all the same because "dem oil paintings" and sharing certain visual points proper to their respective movement. Likewise, it is also ignoring that there are plenty of artists with their own distinctive style besides copycats.

To name a bunch of japanese artists with their own style (while staying relevant on the topic of vidya): hidari, Takehito Harada, Satoshi Urushihara, Yoshiaki Yamaguchi, Akihiko Yoshida, etc. The manga field has a massive amount of artists with their own style as well (Tatsuya Endo, Eiichiro Oda, Kiyohiko Azuma, etc).

Ahh I'm glad you brought up those artists that have been able to carve their own style in the various anime mediums that have existed for a very long time. Can't forget Akira Toriyama as well, who's done all the artwork for Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest, Chrono Cross/Trigger etc.

Yeah, though I was thinking more along the lines of how finalized generic anime characters used for advertising seem to be. Hatsune Miku's just been the template for over a decade now, and today we've got countless generic characters like that all over the place, all placid and interchangeable. It's just one element of many different things in modern culture that's just been so static throughout the 21st century.

If you're gonna introduce new VTubers, at least let us see the model moving. Or someone voicing the things. Some scene depicting them getting into shenanigans.
Do fucking something interesting if you're gonna push this.
Sorry to tell you that the resident Soyny larper, doesn't know what he talks about again, this case with Vtubers.
That VEE group is pretty much actually contracting a few small indie vtubers, to propose this so called "managing talents" thing.
With two of them had already debut, one is an Apex Legends player and one is variety tuber (gaming, song cover, chatting)
Screenshot 2022-05-24 at 13-34-51 VEEバーチャルタレントオーディション特設サイト.png
However, I don't really trust them, because they already had/having horrible management so far, I don't really see it improving much anytime soon. Beside the whole easier to deal with Copyrights stuff, you know how horrible Japan with copyrights.

First, this isn't the first time Sony Music JP managing Vtuber. They actually had one a long time ago, used to be 2nd biggest Vtuber back then, Kaguya Luna, since the management was so bad, she outright retires without any proper saying goodbye or "Japanese graduation".
Screenshot 2022-05-24 at 13-15-11 Kaguya Luna.png
Good thing, she has her 2ndary job (youtube) as P-maru back her up and her talk behind the scenes.

Second, Sony Music actually launches a Vtuber group last year (Nov 2021) called VERSEn, even more generic design.

The amount of subscribers they have for in a supposedly huge corporation.

That is quite sad. literally I feels bad for them. Also, they supposedly have 6 characters, but only 5 had debut and worse two of them only use PNG and not even proper moving 2D/3D model for vtubing. This is coming from a billions company.

So now with that Vee group announcement. Sony Music just makes contracts small indie vtubers to be part of them and not even doing anything to help their original group grow???????

Double posting, I'm not sorry.
All Vtubers by definition are awful. if they were not they would not be vtubers.
I dare you go say this in that Vtuber thread. It's just all fake internet points anyway, has zero meaning and effect irl.
With that logic, I could also say all youtubers and Twitch streamers are awful.

There is actually one big reason why that thread is the biggest, fastest moving and most positive thread in Multimedia section, besides all simpings, triablism and some doomposting now and then.

For of all entertainment, being streamers and youtubers, because most of them are heavily JP side or under JP company. So it's streaming entertainment manages to keep its form of escapism and away from all autism of politics. For most of big popular vtubers being corporate, yet they are well more human and genuine than most of products from big corporations produce today.

Thanks to all, that if you've compared other threads in Multimedia section, most of them are complaining, grieving over the state of current entertainment being made by the West.

No the logo was normal and about the disc if your talking about the bootleg dvd with the three dudes then dunno it was a copy i got but the white burned dvd wasnt patched with anything

It's just the Sony Japan games, everything else is NTSC. But your reason for why they used the PAL versions is wrong, this is just emulation so they could legit just rip a iso from the disc or just download one online.

Don't think it's right issues as well, AE1 was published by Sony every where unlike 2 and something Wild Arms wouldn't run into right issues that would stop them from being able to use the 60hz one but no the 50hz one. Could be the emu can't run the 60hz one at full speed but the PS4 and PS5 should be way beyond the power needed for that.

So I'm left to thinking the reason could be cheapness, Sony don't want to put in the work checking multiple versions of the games run so will use the 50hz ones as they will have more languages on file, with 60hz will normally just be English with some times French and Spanish . Really should have came up with a way to make those run at 60hz or offered both version allowing you pick which one you would rather play but that would have took more work.

Good news PSP games won't have this issue least

What kind of dvd did you use to burn the game? I don't think the ps2 likes rewritable media. Try a dvd-r if you've got any

It was a dvdr company was verbatim also for context also is looking into the bootleg dvd files useful on the computer

Also I checked the old prices for shit when people gawked at me for saying that cards ran in the thousands. AUS prices had shit run in the thousands or close to it, a 600 dollar card in USD translates close to 1k including a 10% tax. Because I distinctly remember seeing the four digit card prices when Skyrim was out.
Doing the old didgeridoo-switcheroo, now it's AUSTRALIAN dollars. I'm going to keep this trick for later when I am talking about prices...

But anyway, Fermi was the hot new thing then, released some months prior to Skyrim, the most expensive card by MSRP was a 590, I think that was the first appearance of a 90-series cards so of course it's going to be the one aimed at GPU-coomers. It costs $200 more than the high-end 80 card below but that 90 will give you 3%-9% extra FPS or something less FPS because it's a retarded dual GPU card.

But here is where it gets good! It had an outrageous MSRP of 699USD, let's see if that price is AUDS positive... this tiny chart is a bitch so I'm just using late October(Skyrim released in November) for currency adjustment. The most expensive $699 MSRP American USD Dollar compu-coomer card translates to, at that time... an even 650 didgeridollars. With 10% tax that's 715AUSD. Not thousands.
Turns out the Aussie-buck was incredibly strong against the USD for a couple of years there, the chart I'm using goes back to 1999 and the period of 2011 to early 2014 looks like the strongest it's ever been during the last 23 years. Huh, Mori taught me something by accident.
