I dig my PS5. Was a big Xbox fan back when Bungie was still making halo games. Not much stuff has been Xbox exclusive in the last decade that I found appealing. I'll get around to buying the new Xbox eventually though, nothing exclusive to it sparks my interest atm, maybe starfield if that doesn't end up being the dumpster fire I think it might end up being.

Just buy all the consoles unless you're a poorfag. Being a console war nerd was something I realized was cringe all the way back in highschool, when I got my first job and started buying my own systems myself.
Why the fuck would I buy a big plastic brick that has no games, when I have a gaming PC that plays all the games it does have better than it does?

I won't be surprised if Sony still show almost no games like they always do.

Funny how the mentality of "console wars don't matter" only started picking up steam when Sony's exclusives got significantly worse and ported to PC.

Remember, Sony has no games. I'm stating the obvious to spite the coping Sony fans who watched the stream

You don't need high quality assets. The 3d depth sells it more than texture quality. I think Valve talked about it in one of their GDC talks for VR. Your brain quickly adapts to what it sees and you stop seeing low quality textures or low poly objects, its like the floating hands in Half Life Alyx. To someone viewing from a flat screen it looks bad, but for someone playing the game they don't even see it.
normies would never buy into slop like TLOU if it would look like a playstation 2 game.

yes, you absolutely can get away with lower fidelity and a defined artstyle, but even something like alyx is still a step above most indies. it's VR, people WILL put that shit right in their face and expect it to look and behave appropriately, a simple cylinder with the word "bottle" on it won't do it depending what type of game you're going for - and that's before you got into more open world stuff and performance becomes an issue and you have to actually optimize again.

Is VR still trapped in "funny tech demos" land or is it starting to actually produce full games?
I think it's in the land of people willing to pay new smartphone prices($1000) and expecting games to be priced at single dollar values like they are on phones. In my opinion VR is currently the new smart phone yet no one knows what to do with. They've sold lots of the things. It's either to a market they don't understand or maybe to a VR market that doesn't understand itself or both. It's fucking wild.

‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ Writer Confirms He Will Also Write ‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ (Archive of Comic Basics article)

So apparently Insomniac hasn't even *started* writing the Wolverine game?

Sony announced that game nearly *two* years ago. Has any pre production work been done on it at all?
Insomniac is really pulling a DSP with their excuses as to why Wolverine isn't made yet
Another instance where you can be totally fair to Sony, because this problem isn't exclusive to them.

I mean, I've complained about this in the Xbox thread too. Things are announced entirely too early for how fucking long it takes to develop shit.

And it's going to reach a boiling point with this generation I think when people realize they've bought a fucking systems that had almost no exclusives with the generation because shit took so long to develop they need to go cross gen again.

On the flip side, people were shitting on Microsoft for not having as many games as Sony at E3 20XX when they only showed off what would(probably, hopefully) be released before the next E3.

To tell you the truth, the fact that Metroid Prime 4 is still in production for the past 4.5 years is aggravating to me. Nintendo is a shit company and its fanbase is also shit.

At least you can excuse the delay with Metroid 4 because Nintendo had to scrap the whole thing and start from scratch because the game "wasn't up to their standards of quality" and gave the reigns back to Retro Studios to handle the development of the title.

Insomniac has done nothing but twiddling their thumbs on the Wolverine project.

Yes, I would forgive Nintendo for redoing Metroid Prime 4 in hopes of having it polished, because they at least were actually promising people with a new Metroid game. Insomniac announced something that's absolute nonexistent that it feels like they're just full of shit and hope people to play more Spiderman shit.
