The new fucking Spider-Man game begins with thugs robbing a "gun club" in central Manhattan, to which Peter quips over and over again in support of gun control. That's actually in this fucking game. Because obviously in this fucking world of supervillain terrorists, constant backalley rapes, and endless bank robberies, the only people who should have guns is the vigilante superhero. It's perfectly okay for Spider-Man to be able to defend himself with lethal force, but you? No, you cannot. No guns for you, grannie. GET RAPED.
Oh, also, we have to pretend that Miles couldn't instantly get into any college he applied to as a (supposedly) high-IQ black man. Literally everyone knows that he could be a drooling mongoloid and go wherever he wanted, but we can't say that, so we have to make a big deal of his college application process!

The graphics in Spider-Man 2 are hideous. I can't believe that.
Demon's Souls was a day-one game and technically is a phenomenal-looking game. The Last of Us 2 is a PS4 game and still looks impressive and better than almost anything nowadays. These devs dropped the ball, I wonder if this was supposed to be a cross-gen title that got promoted to exclusive because Sony was desperate.

From what I sort of understood from watching that Noclip documentary on Demon's Souls, Bluepoint didn't actually do anything that the PS4 couldn't have done (albeit with lower res and framerate and slower loading times). I think they also used baked lighting for the environments because its static and you can get raytraced quality lighting with it since its static and done offline. Last of Us 2 is the same, it uses pre-baked lighting and all the 'cheats' games have been using for years before raytracing became a thing, so it can do it fast and it will look very good. While actual raytracing might look 'better', its nowhere near as fast or mature, requires games to run at much lower resolution, and requires a bunch of denoising on top that makes the image look blurrier.
Does Spiderman 2 even have a day/night cycle? I have only ever seen it at day. If it doesn't then they could have baked the lighting and had it look better, or even just the indirect lighting and done dynamic shadows since those scale better for open worlds. But raytracing and dynamic shadows and stuff is easier to just drop in, where as pre-baked stuff requires work from artists and isn't instant, so games are now just offloading all that work to realtime on the user's hardware and thats why every game runs like shit or runs at 480p nowadays.

They're much worse than I was expecting. I can't tell the difference between this and the last one. But at least it's in 4k and can be run at 60fps, unlike the last one.
Honestly it feels identical to the last one in every way, except way more pozzed. I swung around for two hours last night and was overwhelmed with the sense that I had played this game already.
I think these people are the propagandists themselves.
What pisses me off the most about making Peter into some fucking pinko Commie is that he was coded as a "right-wing" character in the original comics, and Steve Ditko was a fucking Randian lolbertarian. You could have just stayed away from politics, but no: now he's ranting about gun control.
I don't know why I play games anymore. They just make me angry.

My favorite thing she's ever done is when she made a video saying, "Games journalists have amazing ethics! We would never accept bribes to rate games highly! We give the scores we believe in!" and then literally in the same video also said, "Well, you know, we wouldn't rate a game below an 8 if the company sent us a copy, because we don't want to damage our relationship, but when does that ever happen?"

I tried looking in to whether she actually did any of the writing on the new God of War but I couldn't tell. I wouldn't be surprised; the dialogue and story were both complete shit.
It's amazing how, based on the demographics of who gamers are and were, you'd expect most game writers to be white guys (like they were ten years ago). Instead it seems like they're all fat blonde Australian and nigger women now--the two demographics who had no interest in games whatsoever until they became trendy. How did that happen????? I guess it's just a coincidence!

Gaming should have had a crash in 2012. Everything since then has been a series of increasingly heavy-handed and aggressive monetization schemes to stave off the bleeding, and keep the bubble inflated. I think we're definitely at a point where time's running out. AAA is increasingly unsustainable, every sony 1st party is an expensive loss leader that exists solely to crow on about the exclusives in order to keep playstation the de-facto home of all the real moneymakers. CoD, genshit, fifa, all the annual sports titles really, all those extremely heavily monetized live service games. Playstation takes a 30% cut of all purchases on psn, including microtransactions. Last year, out of the $25 billion in total revenue the division brought in, $8 billion of it was from skimming off the top of every 3rd party microtransaction on the playstation ecosystem. That's why they're willing to lose money time and time again on horizon, or last of us, or god of war, or spiderman. It keeps playstation the default box for these types of games that actually bring in the money. Playstation made less than $2 billion in profit last year, which means without these microtransactions, they'd have been $6 billion in the red, for a single year.
Eventually, as gaming costs skyrocket every generation, and even every year, there is going to be a point where hunting the whales, which are increasingly spread thin and less numerous as we go into a potential major global economic downturn, stops paying off. And I think there's something that's going to accelerate that. Gen alpha, and to a reduced extent, gen z. You see, these generations, alpha especially, don't view gaming as hobby or leisure, they view it as a job. Thanks to streamers and influencers and all the types of content cancer you can imagine, less and less of these younger generations actually enjoy playing games. It's easier than ever to stream, and most of them will try it, but they'll get burnt out quick since they're used to instant gratification. And in their minds, why would they keep playing games when it's viewed as work, "work" that isn't paying off. They'll just find someone to watch play games, and only buy whatever is currently a status symbol.
