i mean it is in brooklyn, but miles gets captured and fails multiple times. his entire arc is he's not too loving because he is abandoning college and his friends to go on a revenge mission

that being said, time to shit on it:

overall ive been playing it and it's been a good game in terms of the swinging and combat, but in terms of story, pacing and game design it's a huge downgrade. i dont give too much of a shit about identity stuff but jesus insomniac's writers suck their own dick constantly. and it's for reasons that are so stupid

spider-man whines about guns, he literally uses the equivelant of rubber bullets. harry says he has a diverse board of directors, doesnt even explain why or what they do he just brags about it. black cat is a carpet muncher and that's the only trait they think is needed in order to develop her. i hate that theyre adding spiderverse and magic into it

the first game and miles morales ARE progressive but theyre tastefully done. like sure the BLM mural but literally despite having a black protag the miles game doesnt really have anything obnoxious other than the BLM mural. JJ Jameson is now a political strawman, when the whole point is he holds superheroes in check so the story isnt just always on the side of vigilantism. miles says "bye-pock" and it's hilarious because it's so unnatural sounding. the deaf chick talks about afrofuturism and im like what? it seems like overcorrection from retards whining about "spider-cop"

i also just cant really stand the new york dicksucking anymore. these cities are currently in a doom loop, harris is an incompetent. why are these west coast writers portraying its critics as right wing dunderheads?

beyond the NYC dicksucking, the setting just feels stale. I've explored Manhattan as Spider-Man (or his black knock-off) twice in the last five years and God knows how many times before that. What other game gets away with having the same open world with every title? Like, yeah, it's a bit bigger, but it's still the same shit. Can't he go to Toronto? Or Berlin? Or anywhere else? For one game? Please?

Reading posts about Harry's woke ass lines in the game makes me go from disliking him to completely hating the character. I think I would rather have the storyline of Eddie Brock hating Spiderman/Parker for losing his job. Speaking of Venom and all the symbiote references in the game like Agent Venom, Scream, symbiote having Knull spirals, and Venom sprouting wings (which he can't do normally btw), they seemingly forgot about Venom can go camouflage as well.

It does frustrate me how they handle not only Venom but Parker as well. Parker is always needing help or someone comes in help him when the entire point of character he has overcome a lot of the superhero shit by himself. But in this game, they have Miles saves Peter, MJ saves Peter, Harry saves Peter, it's like damn can nigga do anything himself?

i'm definitely having fun with it but yeah if the whole moral of the story is peter needs his friends you need to show a mutual benefit. peter shouldve rescued miles outright, for example. and progressives need to learn to tone it down a fucking notch. im pretty lefty, i like the deaf girl just fine, but jesus i dont every single line of dialogue to be about how awesome capeshit for black people - afrofuturism - is or how sucking dick is more important than defending yourself with a gun if kraven the hunter wants to kill you. i dont need my gangs to be perfectly racially diverse, an all white gang or an all black one is fine. kinda funny how it's always black people and white people and the other ones are lower rung on the prog totem pole

The real killer isn't so much women writers (though having women write male focused media tends to always do poorly outside of very specific exceptions) but how it's "a team of women writers" that you know the company scrapped every dumpster to find and they all of course come from the cat lady association of wine aunts.

It's a combo that they cannot process that New York is a shithole that has lost it's status of "the jewel of the business world" and remember a few pages back how some faggot defined it as an uplifting comfort food and a big part of it is that the game has Nu York, any actual representation of New York would look a lot more like a a getto knockoff of GTA combined with a zombie game where the zombies are hobos.

That is what I mean. These companies don't look for competent female writers who are a fan of the of the source material. Instead they search every Tumblr page to find female writers in order to increase their ESG and DEI scores.

The annoying thing is that I don't actually mind Miles as a character. His relationship with his uncle is pretty cool and if they kept it to "kid loses his dad, finds it difficult to cope, has superpowers" I wouldn't care if he was black, white, mutt, whatever. It's everything that comes along with him, his literally angelic mother, his fat chink friend, his fucking deaf gf with her we wuz future kangz shit and his school full of homos.

I nearly had to turn the game off when he unironically said "BIPOC" while speaking with said deaf gf. 10/10 cringe.

Welcome to the wonderful world of AWFL's (Affluent White Female Liberals). In an AWFL's world living in a rural town where there is no Starbucks or Wholefoods, getting up at 6am to feed the livestock, go to your manual labor job (no, Starbucks doesn't count) and spend time after work with the family watching a football or hockey game is a fate worse then death. This is what West Coast brain rot does to a person. I can't tell you how many times I've dealt with women from Seattle who just stuck their nose up towards those from rural towns. They believe that by virtue of living in a big city that it makes them good and virtuous people.
 
I played a bit of the 2018 Spiderman when it finally came to PC. I fucking loved the original Spiderman 2 from 2004 so I was excited to give it a shot. The general gameplay and combat was fun, but I dropped it when I got to the shoehorned Mary Jane stealth sections. There was a puzzle where you had to configure a statue a certain way and I was looking forward to figuring it out. Well, after about 5 seconds Mary Jane started out right telling me how to solve the puzzle. I had to mute the game because it was so obnoxious and insulting. They really have no faith in their players to handle a basic puzzle, do they? The game was doing this already, but this was the tipping point for me. I'm going to assume this new game is exactly the same way. This is the biggest reason I can't stand modern Sony games. (A lot of AAA games do this too, but Sony is the worst offender) They're too afraid to let you actually think for yourself to figure out anything. Horizon Zero Dawn is another example of this level of hand holding.

There's a side mission where some criminals steal nigger instruments from a nigger music museum. This results in a shitload of "muh community" sperging from Miles's mother, who I fully expect to be unveiled as the reincarnation of the mother of Christ at this point. Niggerman tracks down the instruments and discovers that the sneaky white devil who was going to donate a money to the museum, is responsible for stealing them. This is because his dad or whatever produced the music, which is an extremely lame excuse for stealing them. Miles is much more dismissive of this dude than he is of any of the murderous super villains he encounters.

You then have to endure a virtual gala night where as Miles you can read exhibits about nigger musicians and how important they are. The level is designed so that, to achieve the objective of speaking to niggerman's mother, you are forced through another huge room filled with nigger music exhibitions. There is significantly less effort put in to similar portions of main story missions where exposition is provided by the same mechanic.

I have now gone from niggerman fatigue to complete niggerman exhaustion.

Except that never happens. They pay lip service to the idea of Miles being consumed by revenge, but it never comes to pass. Aside from him hesitating to help Peter once because Li was getting away (which Peter just shrugs off), it's just people telling him not to do anything stupid and him confirming that he won't. Then when he finally faces Li, he's forced to fight by Kraven and easily ends up putting aside his vengeance to help Li escape and find Peter. It's not like he got captured by Kraven because of his revenge mission, it's not like he comes close to killing Li, it's not like he's pushing anyone away. He just gets over it without much inconvenience.
