These games are stored locally, they just suddenly became inaccessible.I'd like to feel bad when these things happen, but we've been saying "if you're not storing it locally, you don't own shit" for like 15 years now.
Sorry the inevitable happened, I guess.

Okay, stored locally AND isn't controlled remotely by our megacorp overlords. These games are stored locally, they just suddenly became inaccessible.
Does PS5 not have an offline mode? These games are stored locally, they just suddenly became inaccessible.
Need I remind you:Does PS5 not have an offline mode?
My attitude has completely changed over the past five months, and now I will not worry at all if PlayStation completely dies off. Xbox is well on its way too, and I feel nothing. No emotions about it whatsoever. Gaming for the foreseeable future is going to be all computers and whatever Nintendo's doing. The only thing I wonder is if the next Switch will capture the rest of the hoodrat market that sees PlayStation as a luxury brand and buys them for NBA and Madden.People always say stuff like this, but look at the state of the industry now, even with all this vaunted competition. It honestly can't get much worse than this, and both Sony and Microsoft are pushing some of the worst trends in the industry right now. They are part of the problem, not the solution.
This is impossible to accomplish on modern consolesOkay, stored locally AND isn't controlled remotely by our megacorp overlords.
Personally, I would consider that part and parcel of "stored locally".
And that's why I haven't owned a console since the 360. People walked right into vendor lock-in with sweet promises about "the cloud" and they got precisely what they fucking deserve. This is impossible to accomplish on modern consoles
There will never be a decade like the 2000s ever. It was the final decade for actual consoles and games not cloud shitAnd that's why I haven't owned a console since the 360. People walked right into vendor lock-in with sweet promises about "the cloud" and they got precisely what they fucking deserve.
black bitches cry about needing more representation while hyping up games about white people dealing with dad shit. what a countryDying in a desert under the heel of a fat black woman complaining that their games still aren’t woke enough
It does for the OG model.Does PS5 not have an offline mode?
This is pretty much what happened with Final Fantasy 7 Remake, once the PS5 port with the DLC came out, they put it on the Epic store after a while, and then like a year later it finally came to Steam. I expect the same thing with FF16 and FF7R2, though I don't actually know if the latter will have DLC.They do plan on this one coming to PC but they're "optimizing" it. So it'll probably be when all the planned DLC is out.
Remember when Microsoft said the Xbox One would be always online and got roundly mocked, and then Microsoft went back and didn't do it? And remember how a few years later Larry Fink was talking about how companies have to force behaviors, and now we have the PS5 forcing always-online? Isn't that just hilarious?Need I remind you:
And you can get backups if the storefronts go down. You can either buy the game from something like GOG and keep a backup of the installers somewhere, or just pirate the game if that's not an option. This is one of the main reasons why I'm glad I moved to PC this last year. I'm done. At least on PC, I can still play single player games when the servers go offline.
I believe that given their current track record they will make DLC for it but I don't think it would be massive story driven content, rather costumes and remixed songs from the first FF7though I don't actually know if the latter will have DLC.

It may not match Switch 1's success but for it to be a disaster they'd need to do something extremely retarded even by Nintendo standards.I think the Switch 2 will be a disaster.
