Sony hate thread

Yeah, PS4 won't do. Honestly, Steam Deck barely will in 2025, possible the tail end of it going into 2026 if it has a holiday season release... The power of a PS4, a 13 year old console at that point, probably won't last long with 3rd parties.

Not that I personally need graphics any better than PS4, but for it to get good support it'll need a little more imo.

We are not only reaching a point were graphical diminishing returns are obvious even for laymen consumers, also a lot of developers, specially those in the AA space, are taking a step back and realizing that trying to continue a graphics arms race is suicidal because of the outrageous costs involved. A PS4 level of power is more than adequate specially for handheld devises and this is doubly true now that storage and memory access speeds are much faster now than when the original PS4 launched. Much of the original PS4's performance was limited due to having far less memory and a spinning hard drive. With faster and larger amounts of VRAM and solid state drive storage, graphical performance improves across the board. 8th gen level graphics already hits a cusp that makes creating assets for that degree of fidelity to be prohibitively expensive for smaller developers.

There is a reason the Switch's 3rd party support is so massive: Targeting that hardware means their projects don't have to break the bank, Coupled with the huge install base of the Switch, it means that it makes economic sense to make scaled down ports for the Switch, It is insane how large is the game library of the Switch, no other proprietary game system even comes close. For reference the PlayStation 2 has 4378 listed games in its library, the Switch has 4765 so far, all of it running in the equivalent of a Xbox360/PS3, If Nintendo manages to launch a device that is in the ballpark of a PS4 or PS4Pro with more VRAM and faster storage and also is backwards compatible, they are golden, developers are going to throw their full support behind it and as @Bog-standard Poster has said in previous post, it is going to murder Sony's sales. Developers are not really going to need more nor want more for quite some time because it is not commercially viable to make games that target higher system specs.

As for the Steam Deck, it is going to be just fine, if you look at the most played games on it, half of the list are games that could run on a toaster and as for new or more demanding releases, developers still try to target a "Steam Deck" preset as a bare minimum because they know it is a growing market that need to be catered to.

Steam's library is massive and there are tons of back catalog games the Deck can play comfortably, that device is never going to run out of content to play. Even it you were to strictly stick to the "Steam Deck Certified" titles, you'll still get a list 5600+ games, there is no pressure or reason to launch a Steam Deck 2 yet. For people who want more power there is plenty of variety from manufacturer like Asus, Lenovo, MSi, Zotac and many more that are launching new handheld PCs every year and it has already been confirmed by Valve that they are working with third parties to have SteamOS running out-of-the-box in some of these future handheld PCs. There is no lack of choice on that regard.

"Why can’t Western game devs watch and reference more anime than Akira and Cowboy Bebop?” Seriously, here’s the thing. I don’t even want those fools to reference anything at this point. I think they should not be allowed to access anime and manga in any shape or form.
they do, but I doubt you wanna see more harry potter/star wars analogies, and whatever they latch onto next will inevitably become shit.

Really, all they have to do is make Aloy a thot and the games numbers will pick up.
Probably wouldn't save it but it would help.
nah, attractive character only works for the cover and first impression really, if you can't back it up with a good story/gameplay it doesn't really matter much if people become bored and forget about it. staying power is more than just looks.

what helps the deck that it targets 800p, and for that you could literally upscale from 480p without anyone noticing. at that resolution even AAAA shit would still work if the devs support it with cut down assets, but that's what you'd have to do for the switch as well (not much point running 4k textures for examples asf).

funny enough apparently the new indy game which has retarded requirements on PC runs on xbox in a lower setting you can't even choose on pc.

Seeing these faggot developers like Naughty Dog actually have the gall to reference something that I cherish just makes me hate them even more.
I had the same feeling when Spider-Verse had that lame and gay Anime Spidergurl. They consider them references, I consider it soulless poaching.
All they needed to do was give us a killzone game where you play as the helghast. Id think about (but would end up not) buying a PlayStation if they did that. Instead, we get more horizon.
Killzone was deficient in some areas compared to its FPS contemporaries, but it had a cracking atmosphere going for it. You boot up the story and BAM! You're in the thick of it, Helghast are making landfall and you're pulling up your rifle as foot soldiers bear down on you - it's straight into the war.

Horizon is comparatively dull. You have a biome full of robot creatures and tribes of lifeless NPCs, and you play one of the least compelling protagonists to navigate this low-energy wilderness. Ark: Survival Evolved is more compelling even with its barebones premise. It feels like they focused more on the art than anything else.

it just occurred to me, a proper new resistance would be the something sony desperately needs, and it would even work to grab some players from cod (kz being scifi only works so far with normalfags).

but what do I know, I'm just some tard on a tranny genocide forum...

They don't just make the reference, they have to point it out with big red letters and a soy grin as is literally part of their marketing campaign to have every piece of astroturf mention it. Its so disrespectful. Is like everything we like has to be dragged through mud and feces by the subversives

Basically TLOU2 and the synagogue with gas canisters/holocaust preaching all over again.
Exactly. Like I said earlier, if the leaks are true then the plot is a barely disguised tale about the Aliyah (the return to the Promise Land). It would make more sense than a "pro-Palestine" take since Druckmann is a zionist.

So apparently that lego Horizon game is doing about as well as Concord in terms of player numbers.
I heard it actually only had a quarter of its abysmal peak player count. It must be a legendary flop.

So, Sony's genius plan is to sink another $250+ million into woke, cinematic slop despite the fact the last attempt not only sold half as much as TLOU1, but 60% of those 10 million copies sold well after the game released at a discount. And that's ignoring the fact the other cinematic, capeshit slop barely broke even.

And this piece of shit can't even rely on being the continuation of the story about two characters the fans have grow to like.

Meanwhile NG are doing everything in their power to piss off as many potential costumers as possible, despite the fact they're already dealing with a shrinking costumer base because the PS5 didn't sell as well as the PS4.
PS5 owners are thirsty for an exclusive, and it's Naughty Dog. I really don't think it'll perform as badly as people think, unfortunately.

For reference the PlayStation 2 has 4378 listed games in its library, the Switch has 4765 so far, all of it running in the equivalent of a Xbox360/PS3, If Nintendo manages to launch a device that is in the ballpark of a PS4 or PS4Pro with more VRAM and faster storage and also is backwards compatible, they are golden, developers are going to throw their full support behind it
But Switch has an unprecedented amount of the absolute lowest tier shovelware, you can probably cut that list in half, and that's being generous. Look into it sometime, Nintendo has virtually zero quality control. It's notoriously referred to as a Portendo Switch too, which is actually a good thing to me because I like older ports for convenience, but that's another big portion of its library. PS2's library is surprisingly high quality and low on old ports.

And we already see games like Sand Land and Visions of Mana, which you'd think would be a perfect fit, skipping Switch. They ain't AAA and are the kind of games perfectly at home there, but if I had to speculate it seems like they're just a little too ambitious for Switch but could've been tweaked to work if it was in their smaller budgets/deadlines. And not that I personally care much, but even games that do make it to Switch have significantly lower quality, again, usually games that don't have target the highest fidelity like Sonic Frontiers, which apparently is a mess of pop-in & low frame rates, which is probably more noticeable to people than the "bad" graphics.

Point is, a repeat of that situation would be best mitigated by future-proofing Switch 2 a bit. Sure, maybe it'd be fine now, but I think we'd see the same hardware hindrances and limitations after a few years. Switch has quite a few "yeah, it's...technically on Switch" ports that got universally shit on for bad quality like Mortal Kombat, a game they apparently didn't even bother with a PS4 version of, yet they forced it onto the Switch.

But hell, it's Nintendo, so if they just have a strong 1st party lineup and anything close to Switch 1's 3rd party support it'll still probably do good, but I don't see it matching Switch 1's sales.

But people don't buy Steam Deck for Vampire Hunters, it might be one of its top games but nobody went into it for that. People actually do want the big games there, much more than Nintendo. It still can run most of them at at least the lowest settings for now, but with growing exceptions. When it first launched I don't think there were many exceptions at all. There may be no rush for SD2, but there is a rush for Switch 2, and has been for a while.

Again, I'd be fine with these as they are if they kept getting support forever, but that's not the market reality.

Seeing these faggot developers like Naughty Dog actually have the gall to reference something that I cherish just makes me hate them even more.
Yeah, the last thing I want is there to be a correlation in the public consciousness of this woke slop and something as based as Cowboy Bebop. Otherwise, the next time they make a garbage Netflix adaptation of something good it might actually stick.

the psn store may be the shittiest storefront ever devised. yeah i totally want to see some shitty microtransaction for some random no name game when im searching if to buy something.
At least it works, Switch browser literally crashes if you scroll down too far looking for something.

Not sure if it has been posted but alleged plot leaks for Intergalactic has been posted in /v/

Knowing Drunkmann’s “subtle” writing, it’s hard to doubt the leak.

Also to compare Akira and Cowboy Bebop to this slop is beyond insulting.
I have trouble believing the stuff about the ending, would make a sequel seemingly impossible. Maybe one of the endings is a fake-out, probably the kill the bug people one. But no, I lean towards it all being fake.

They only do it because some data analyst on the marketing team told the producer thats what the 40 yr old kids will like.
