Some premium themes with the XMB would even change the UI icons relative to the theme in question.

Those look cool as hell.

To hell with those, the default was the best. A simple ribbon that would change color both throughout the day and the year. Simple, but with depth. Understated, but elegant. I would have thought you of all people would have appreciated that.

To the premium themes, I appreciate the effort with the icons and background. It'd be a novelty.

Are you able to use your own wallpaper and change the color on the XMB?

Bring back the XMB. I'll probably die before I buy another Playstation, but they still should.
Even Vita's mobile-esque UI was far better than the crappy PS4 & PS5 ones.

Vita had something like an autumn theme which looks really good and has nice music. 3DS had some nice ones too, like a Mario hanafuna one. PS3's default was good so I didn't feel the need to change it.

That autumn theme is Four Seasons, and it’s what I still use. I don’t know why everyone suddenly decided customizable menus were bad (Xbox still has user backgrounds + a few dynamic themes) but it’s a big step down from 3DS and Sony consoles having a ton of themes, and 360 having a theme for every single little thing they could possibly think of.

Figure I'll post this here since Shadow Of The Colossus's 20th anniversary is this year and since I finished it on a PS2 today. A fair reminder of how great and artistic gaming used to be.

PSP was capable of this as well in fact an old friend irl showed me modded themes that were so cool, one was themed after the Xbox 360 dashboard, another Dr. Pepper with the dr pepper song playing. Fun little console.
(I wish they made a new PSP that can run PS2 and PS3 games properly if a bit downscaled), console companies are too afraid of losing money again to try their hand at the switch and steamdeck's success. But then they make bullshit like the Playstation Portal, the Kinect, and it makes you think they may as well have used that money to try a new handheld console since no one is buying other shitty gimmicks.

Gaming has to be as uniform and sterile as possible now. It's sorta like the equivalent of brutalist architecture which conspiracy theorists may or may not be right about being a form of social demoralization.

Somehow Portal sold well. Maybe because it could've shipped in limited quantities? Either way that was disappointing.

PSN servers are down in unplanned maintenance, yet the website says that servers are live.
Somebody fucked up, Friday night maintenance? Nah…

Edit: The website now says there are issues, the servers were down for an hour before the website caught up.

The Snoys have flooded to twitter and are having a meltdown. They just finished an 8hr shift and expected to come home and start their weekend gaming, only to see PSN being down for hours with no statement on when it will be back up.

This describes me 100% right now. thankful I have the Farms to fall back on when vidya fails.

They fired a bunch of californian employees and now psn is compromised? Surely a coincidence and not seething commies immediately destroying everything.
