Sony hate thread

gee, it sure is a good thing that there isn't a ground-up remake of the original Rayman that has a bunch of QoL features that you can download for completely free or anything -

Oh.
Having played Rayman Redemption to 100% a while back, I can say that it's not really a perfect replacement for the original Rayman given just how fundementally different every level is designed compared to the original (like every level in Redemption being designed with you having every ability when having to earn them throughout the game was factored into the design) and imo going for 100% even with the collectable tracker items gets tedious in its own way in the back half with having to roam the same 4 parts of a level segment just to make sure you get everything.

Though given this rerelease has the entire design bible for the originally intended SNES incarnation and a convenient way to play the PC expansion pack levels, it actually might be worth getting through the seven seas, though the fact that what is extensively a PS1 game is a highlight for a State of Play says a lot about how bad the PS5 has got in terms of releases.

Correction... JAGUAR game. The PS1 port came after and even then it shared it with the Saturn, so Sony can't even say it claims Rayman 1 solely.
Fair, but when people think of Rayman 1, it is often the PS1 version, with the Jaguar version being a bit far behind only for how differerent it is to the inital batch of ports and its music.

if true, congrats sony, you just made the xbox series s/x.

To be fair, if the Series S had been a handheld system it probably would have been a far more appealing product as a true portable Xbox with backward compatibility, it would have differentiated itself as a companion hardware instead of being an inferior version of an existing console.

Final Fantasy Remake - the project that Sony took credit for starting? Has announced that their lead platform for the 3rd installment is...drumroll

PC.

Apparently PC is the easiest platform to make the game on because it will be ported to Xbox, PS and Switch 2. Just like how games used to be made.

Sony fans are melting down because they see PC as a weak, dead, old platform and that 70% of pc users own a rig less powerful than a PS5, therefore they don't count. Completely missing the point of why 70% of PC users and 50% of PS owners haven't seen the need to upgrade.

"what do you mean those rockstar niggers want me to start from scratch for the same shit?!"
Hasn't kept goy cattle from buying any manner of sports ball games every year and doing exactly that. While the GTA crowd isn't the exact same crowd as the sports games crowd there's definitely overlap.
Price rises
This is still the craziest thing about this whole console generation to me.

Even going back to 2020, Microsoft had concerns about not being able to bring down the console prices like they had in prior generations. Newer process nodes have not had the same fall-off in cost as previous gens because 10nm is a gigantic wall which keeps a handful of very capital-intensive fabs with all the good stuff (and it's worse than that because TSMC's only competitors at sub-10nm, Samsung and Intel, are both struggling in their own ways). The PS5/XSX are also much stronger relative to the average PC compared to the PS4/XB1.

Keeping consoles where they are now for an extra half gen or so would be a good way to actually get back to where things used to be. Especially since no one seems to really care about AAA these days and all the big financial wins are in AA and indies.

Moving away from 4k and 'pro' upgrades would be a good start.
The industry complained that hardware and associated R+D was too expensive, then they throw out fucking upgrades that nobody wants. Stupid cunts.

4K is inevitable just because that's the most common resolution on TVs now. Even if it's just via dumb temporal upscaling like FSR3, you have to be able to provide a clean 4K image (especially for UI elements).

Pro upgrades are dumb though, at least this gen. I pointed out when the PS5 Pro came out that $700 is edging into PC territory and it doesn't make sense to spend that much money on a better PS5 when for a couple hundred more you can just get a PC. Sure the PS5 Pro is technically better perf per $ but the extra money gets you better baseline perf and a far bigger library which makes the value proposition fundamentally different.

With Xbox out of the picture, I think the hardware arms race will cool a little. Sony now only has to provide better hardware than Nintendo and that's not hard.

My husband's really been into Clair Obscur after a buddy bought for him through Steam.

His longest-time friend, a man in his mid-30s, refuses to engage in any discussion with my husband about the game (despite playing it himself) because he's playing it on a PC, not on PlayStation. This "friend" deems this a betrayal of the highest order, and goes into quiet soy rages over it.

He's unironically avoiding my husband now. This is how hopeless Sony fans are. He's not even black.

Bluepoint is dead. Rest in piss, you fucking retards.

Huge L for Sony to acquire a skilled port/remaster developer and let them work on a fucking live service game instead of remasters of classic PlayStation games.
Sure, their "remakes" were abortions, but their less creative work on Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Flower etc. was good. They could've been cranking shit out if Sony kept them in their lane.
All that really just to say I want PC ports of the Gravity Rush games and you KEEP TAKING IT AWAY FROM ME GOD DAMN IT.

Not exactly a big loss. Nixxes is the studio that's been doing all the (good) PC ports, Bluepoint has just been a support studio whored out since that awful DeS remake.
